Vintage Antique Large Pine Finial Baluster Newell Post
Up for auction today is an Antique finial that would go on top of a baluster or post. It is made from a single piece of pine. It is 9" high x 21-1/2" ball circumference x 6-1/4" wide across the base. We found this at an estate sale cleaned it up and hand rubbed with wood wax. It has 3 of the antique nails if you want to re-attach to a post. Please see the pictures above for"character" marks. There is one large turned wood cannon ball-finial-top staircase newel post column/pillar baluster with original red-burnished paint, large wood column/baluster newel post for staircase with threaded interior at end(see close-up pic provided) measures approx. 25" long with the round ball top measuring approx. 3.75" in diameter, bottom measures approx. 3.5" across and opening where threaded measures approx. 1.5" in diameter(see close-up pics provided) All have wear, age, and patina/weathered surfaces, these are not vintage or reproduction pieces and have weathered over time and have seen use-please view all pics. Lot of 10 Vintage White Shabby Chic Style Architectural Baluster Stair Spindles
Purchased out of a barn behind the house that was holding an estate sale. You are bidding on 10 vintage baluster stair spindles. The contents of the house were being sold by the children of the family that lived there and they have no idea how the stair spindles got in the barn, how they were used or how old they are. As a result I can’t tell you much about them. If you look at the pictures you’ll get a good idea of the condition. I can tell you that there are 10 pieces all together. Eight of the pieces measure 22” long and two have been cut down to 21” in length. Of the two that were cut down. Both ends are in good condition. Of the 8 that are 22” long, one end on three of them shows some damage, which might be why two were cut down. Otherwise they are in nice shabby chic condition. There still are some nails in a few of them. I did not ... moretry to repair or refinish them. I leave that decision up to the winning bidder. Chinese Ox Blood Vase Sang De Boeuf Squat Baluster Jar
This auction features an vintage ox blood Sang de Boeuf RARE squat pot or baluster vase in near mint condition. The vase has a gradient of orange and red hues with a wonderful glossy. Almost wet look. The bottom of this magnificent jar is enameled in ox blood and a bluish cream glaze, as well as the interior, which is characteristic of the older jars. This amazing vase has no damage whatsoever besides the crackle in the clear enamel glaze, which can only be seen in direct sunlight and is common in these vases. There are also a couple of pinhead sized white specks underneath the clear glaze, where the red did not coat, which happened during creation and is not damage. The graceful curves are well proportioned and the potting is stout. A medium heavy weight. The unglazed foot-rim shows a dense paste which is smooth, yet not as silky smooth as Kangxi period paste. The tea green glaze has a yellow content giving the eel-skin appearance. Thinning at the top rim, and there are some glaze skips inside the mouth showing the depth of the glaze. The interior is glazed in a semi translucent, off-white color and the base glaze matches the body. These photographs were taken in direct sunlight to best show the details. In darker room light the glaze has more of a moss-green appearance

A Samson baluster vase Iznik style
A beautifully executed Samson hand painted vase With loop handles. Painted in blue, green and red with scrolling foliage. In excellent condition for age. During the second half of the 19th century there were a number of exhibitions devoted to the wares made in Isnik in Turkey and these created a great interest in these pieces. Copies soon started to be made by potteries such as Cantagalli in Italy. William De Morgan in England and Samson of Paris. The mark on this vase is recognised as being a Samson mark. Edmé Samson(1810-1891) Founder of the ceramics firm Samson, Edmé et Cie(commonly known as Samson Ceramics) was a famous copyist(and even perhaps a forger in some cases) of porcelain and pottery. Lot of 13 Antique Spiral Twist Baluster Spindles Pine RARE
Here is a very unusual lot of old architectural spindles. Made of pine with a spiral twist to them. They measure from12 1/2" to 45" including the end blocks. They are cut from 1 1/2" square lumber. Nicely made with no weathering but there are remaining nails in the ends of some and scuffs to the soft shellac varnish. There is a gap in the size progression of 1 piece. LOTS of uses for these spindles besides putting them back into a house. Would date to pre-1900. Very hard to find and difficult to make. Careful packaging. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING POSSIBLE
