IT SOUNDS GREAT AND HAS A LONG SUSTAIN TYPICAL OF WAR TIME BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD. AS STATED IT HAS BEEN RE-FINISHED IN A SHADE TOP. ... moreI DON' T KNOW IF IT WAS A NATURAL TOP OR SHADED ORIGINALLY SINCE WORK WAS COMPLETED BEFORE I ACQUIRED IT. THE SERIAL IS 8528[9] NOT SURE OF THE LAST DI G IT. PLEASE SEE PICTURE SEVEN WHICH SHOWS THE NECK BLOCK DETAIL. The instrument is NEARLY CRACK FREE. It has one hairline crack on the back near the treble side waist- about 2 1/2" 3" long. The bridge is a replacement; the pickguard is old and correct for period- probably original. The maple bridge plate is looks to be a replacement while all the internal braces are old and believed original. My luthier. David Sheppard of Charleston, SC has indicated on an inspection sheet he completes, when he does my work. That the bracing is original. The Gotoh tun ers are non-original but work very well. The neck has a soft V and is thinner than how it left the factory- measuring 1 5/8" at the n ut. For this reason. If you have large finger tips I would not encourage you to bid! David Sheppard has installed a new bone nut with wider string spacing plus five new frets that reach closer to the fretboard's edge. 1920 Martin 00-28 Herringbone Guitar
You are bidding on a 1920 Martin guitar. I believe it's a 00-28. The serial number is stamped on the neck block but no model. Which is correct for 1920. The lower bout measures 14 1/8 inches wide. This guitar will need some work. The frets appear to be original but some have lifted up and will need to be tapped back down and leveled. The neck looks pretty straight but does appear to have a slight twist. I bought it with no strings and I haven't strung it up, but just looking at the neck angle I would say it should be reset. The bridge is lifting and the top may also lift when strung up, I can't tell. There is a crack in the top and one on the side(on the bottom side) There is also what looks like a crack in the pickguard area but it doesn't appear to be through. It may not be a crack. This guitar never had a pickguard. The ... morefinish appears to be original. It is missing one bridge pin. The serial number is 15xxx which should date it to 1920. Someone penciled some numbers on the fingerboard to learn to play. That should come off easily. It has slotted diamond and square inlays and herringbone binding. I bought it from the family that originally bought it new. It comes with the original hardshell case, but the handle is gone and some of the covering is gone. This is 1 of only 15 reportedly built 000's in 1983 as part of Martin's 150th year anniversary and signed on their special label(as seen in the close-up) by both of the then living C.F. Martins, C.F. Vintage 1981 Burton Backhill Green Herringbone pattern rare
According to the salty peaks snowboard museum this is a 1981 Burton Backhill. The green is very rare. It has a little chip on the tail along with very minor spot where the varnish has flaked off. The board has some torsional twisting which I hope can be seen in the photo. For a board that is 32 years old the base is in great shape along with the topsheet. This is a beautiful board. Hello. Another great item up for auction out of my grandmother's estate. This is an antique.EAPG, Florida or Paneled Herringbone, pedestal cake stand. It was made in 1898, by the United States Glass Company. It is 10 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall. I have been over every inch of this cake stand at least 10 times. All I can find are a few scratches. I found no chips, cracks, or flea bites. My grandmother took excellent care of her things and all items have been in perfect condition.
