The clock has a good weight to it which is a sign of its quality and really is a must have for any lover of the Art Deco Period. This set was presented to my father for 25 years of service in about 1969. It has a white dot fountain pen( 14K gold nib) and ballpoint pen(working Sheaffer cartridge in it) The fountain pen doesn't have any ink in it. But I assume it would work if it did. RARE American Indian KENNETH BEGAY Silver & Leather DESK BLOTTER / White Hogan
This Desk Blotter was made by Navajo Indian Kenneth Begay while working at The White Hogan in Scottsdale Arizona. 1944-1962. Begay was primarily known as a Modern American Indian Jewelry maker and their most accomplished artist. The blotter measures 32 1/4" X 25" That is also the size of the 1/4" thick leather. The silverwork is hand-made and completely constructed. The silver borders weigh 27 grams but they also includes the weight of the 6 wooden medallions. The medallions display silver appliques depicting farming crops and cattle ranching consisting of Potatoes, Grapes, Bailed Hay, Cattle, Oranges and Lettuce maybe. The medallions are fitted into disk cups which also serve to accommodate the thickness of the leather and insure support on the desk surface.
