BUBBLES& RARE SHAPE(No. 12) This float is approximately 11 inches in circumference which is about the size of a softball. It is made of hand blown glass. This is a Japanese fishing float that was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities. Inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years in the ocean. The float is a blue-green color. This float is unique because it has what is called a spindle on its surface. A spindle is where a ... morepiece of hot glass forms a swirl shaped thread on the surface of the float before it cools, leaving a swirl pattern on the surface of the float. It has a little swirled spindle near the top of the float. The float also has an unusual shape in that there is a slight indentation on one side. There are also some net marks on portions of the float. This float is a rare find because of its UNUSUAL shape, net patterns, many bubbles and inclusions and its spindle that has formed on its surface. These little pins are from an estate we acquired a year or so ago. We are not real sure how old this item is. The man we bought them from was born in the mid 60's, the pins had belonged to his father. The masonic pin in the image above is from an estate that we acquired a year or so ago. The image is greatly inlarged. The actual size is 1/2"s high and 1/2"s wide. The pin is marked LOUISIANA at the top and 25 YEARS A MASON at he bottom, I think you will be able to read all the info in the image above. The back of the pin is marked STERLING as is the card it is on. It fastens with a pin or stud holder on the back.
