Ortofon STM-72 step-up transformer for Moving-Coil(MC) cartridges This auction is for a gently-used Ortofon type STM 72 step-up transformer designed to be used with moving coil cartridges. It was manufactured by Ortofon of Denmark. The legendary manufacturer of audiophile cartridges and transformers. This sought-after combination of Ortofon moving coil cartridges and step-up transformers was known for excellent stereo separation and for providing sound reproduction that is incredibly musical, sweet and airy. Having been in the audio business back in the 70’s, Ortofon was my consistent choice for playing LPs. I acquired several of these transformers in the early 1970’s for use with Ortofon moving coil cartridges. I thought I had sold them all several years ago with the cartridges. But this one turned up recently. This STM-72 transformer is ... morein very nice shape cosmetically(see photos) and should have plenty of life left in it. Since I no longer have any appropriate cartridges, I cannot test it; however, it worked fine when taken out of service sometime in the mid to late 90’s. The transformer body is just under 3” long and the ~11” pigtail terminates in a pair of RCA connectors. This Ortofon step-up transformer can also be successfully used with other brands of low-output moving coil cartridges that are compatible with the STM-72 specs. You're bidding on a rare Neumann(Germany) BV33/ 2xV264 loaded stereo step up transformer in incredible condition. It is. Without a doubt, one of the finest sounding(quite possibly the finest sounding) SUT ever created. In the late 1950s Neumann commissioned the construction of the BV33 to their Berlin neighbours, Haufe, whose masterfully matched V264 MC transformers, set in a heavy gauge MU-metal screening can, were to exhibit perfect transmission parameters. Suitably smitten. Neumann was to employ the BV33 in their unrivalled WV2 preamp. Its ratio is 1:40 under normal loading(and 1:50 with open output/no loading) and step-rate is effectively 30dB in operation with an MM phono preamp(assuming 47-50kOhm load/input resistance) Input DC resistance is 8ohm. Output DC is 4.4 kOhm and it's suitable for use with all cartridges with 3-100 ... moreohm output impedances. It's particularly rewarding with low output carts like Ortofon. Koetsu, Neumann DST and Lumiere DST(I'll have one for sale soon) to name a few. Output is perfectly linear from 2 to 50 ohm, and from 10- 20,000Hz there is +/ 0dB deviation(seriously, it's ruler flat- even Audio Tekne can't manage this) It's a miraculous thing. 3 Phase Step Up Transformer 230V to 480V
I could not find any manufacturer's information on this Transformer. It is currently configured as a Step up transformer for 100A 230V to 50A 480V 3phase. It is a dry coil type and is air cooled. As shown it has Mitsubishi 3 phase circuit breakers. This is in a big cabinet that is approximately 5' high by 4' wide by 2.5' deep. The cabinet has a lifting lug on top for moving it into place. This transformer was used to power our electric injection molding machines for a few years until we had our service upgraded to 480V. It was working fine until it was removed from service and has been sitting in a climate controlled warehouse for a couple of years. It is guaranteed against DOA and returns will be accepted if the unit is not functional upon delivery. Return shipping will be paid by the buyer.
