From the serial number(173002) It appears to be a 1979 Model 1627 Glen Campbell medium-bowl acoustic-electric Artist. It is American-made and has the Glen Campbell signature trussrod cover. However, we are not exactly sure of the“Artist” model, so please do research to verify the model. Some of the features are Ebony fretboard and pearloid position markers, stacked knob volume and tone controls, and they work perfectly smooth. The action at the 12th fret is 4/32 inch. Showing nearly zero fret or fretboard wear. The bridge is flat to the top, no top cracks or lacquer crazing on the back of the neck behind the nut, as with most of the older U.S. Ovations. The top is flat with no severe rippling or cracks-great for a 34-year-old guitar! There are some ... morevery, very light pick marks on the top that did not show in the closeup photos. One ding on the top bout(see closeup) The binding has split at the 9th fret(see closeup) There is one lacquer check line on the top just below the bottom of the neck on the top of the body. It wouldn’t show in a picture. The gold Ovation tuners are in great condition, showing a little tarnish. They are very snug and hold tune perfectly. Includes the original brown hardshell case with one small hole(see photo) all hinges, latches, and handle intact. There is some brown reside, probably glue, on the backside aluminum trim. The electronics are extremely clean and balanced. This is one of the best Ovations we have had, and we have sold quite a few(check our completed auctions) Truly one for the playing collector. A fabulous and rare specimen certificate. Specimen Certificates are actual certificates that have never been issued. They were usually kept by the printers in their permanent archives as their only example of a particular certificate. Sometimes you will see a hand stamp on the certificate that says"Do not remove from file" Specimens were also used to show prospective clients different types of certificate designs that were available. Specimen certificates are usually much scarcer than issued certificates. In fact. Many times they are the only way to get a certificate for a particular company because the issued certificates were redeemed and destroyed. It is all original except for the tone knob and the color was sunburst(now it is surf green as shown) It comes with the original case as well as the guitar strap. Pre-CBS(pre-1966) Fender vintage guitars and amps are the desirable ones. Although CBS purchased Fender(officially) on January 3rd 1965. It took some time till the guitars changed(though by mid 1964, six months before CBS bought Fender, things were already"on the way down" By the end of 1965, the general look and feel of the Fender guitars had changed significantly. Vintage 60's Teisco Japan Zen-On Zenon Gold Foil Pickup Electric Guitar Vintage 60's Teisco Japan Zen-On Zenon Gold Foil Pickup Electric Guitar Welcome to Musicdungeon. You are bidding on a great piece. This is the 60's Zenon electric guitar. 25.5" scale. 1.72" nut width. 6.4 lbs. There is much spectulation as to who made the Zenon guitars- some say Teisco. Others say Guyatone. Either way, this is one of the coolest vintage guitars out there. The body features a great mid 60's cool/quirky style- super thin like a Teisco with an awesome pickguard design. This is 60's Japan at its finest. Featuring a single neck position gold foil single coil with adjstable polepieces, this guitar is sure to impress. The pickup produces a very warm tone with nice articulation. Rolling back the tone pot makes for a gorgeous dark ... moresound. Unlike other single coils, the gold foils take nicely to a bit of overdrive. Overdrive, this pickup is a sustain machine- very nice. The neck here has a chunky, 1" thick at the 5th fret, with a U profile. When you add to that the just about flat fingerboard radius, you get a great comfortable feel- perfect for chording or lead work. The look on this Zenon is incredible- trans sunburst finish showing some really nice wood grains, that cool pickguard, and chrome hardware- this is a beauty. The frets are clean- but there is the typical'Teisco' buzzing over the 12th fret. The neck has 3/64" of relief at the 5th fret(non adjustable rod) which results in the action being just under 1/8" at the 12th fret. The pickguard's powder white finish is worn(pic) and 2 of the tuner bushings are missing as you can see in pics. The gold foil pickup guitars are highly sought after by players. This is your chance to get your hands on a great piece of 60's Japan history- the Zenon! There is no case included, but we pack for safe arrival as well as insure in full.
