Two off General Electric inc. electrolytic smoothing capacitors: 34.800 microFarads@ 50v DC, 65v DC surge rated) These are ideal for a large Hi-fi amplifier design or a regulated DC power supply. Etc. This auction is for a tested pair of large. Ex-equipment, high quality DC rated electrolytic reservoir capacitors in an insulated aluminium case, and are complete with the mounting clamps and the terminal screws. They are a premium GE USA made high ripple current capable product with the type 86F171M and date codes 1887202. I am starting these at £15.00 for the pair. These were inside Baldwin model 45 tone generators I have gutted in the last year. Below is some info that may or may not be applicable to the caps being sold. These are here so those that don't have. Can have. These are pulls from gear I have salvaged and parted. These have varying lengths on the leads but you should be able to work with them but. Some cap auctions will have caps leads that may have or are very,very short so, keep this in mind when bidding. Some of my caps may have soldered on extensions to the leads and can be seen in pics posted to this auction and all pics on all of my auctions are my pics ... moreand are the items for auction and NOT file photos. There is one thing to know in that older used caps tend to drift in ratings and can make a change in tone. Like tube rolling. your going to have to gather up some. try them. evaluate them by ear mostly. And then decide the keepers from the ones that are just not right. This is what you will be doing by getting these. THESE ARE NOT TESTED! AND. THESE DO NOT COME WITH A RETURN. PLEASE. RE-READ THIS PART AGAIN. I right now have no cap tester. My old one. 2 x 40000uF 15V Capacitors This is a pair of large-can. Screw-terminal capacitors ideal for low-voltage amplifiers, high-current power supplies or just making big sparks! They were removed from working equipment, and as such will not have the lifetime of a new component, but are much cheaper and still quite suitable for experimentation or DIY. I have done a quick check for both capacitance value and leakage current at the rated voltage and they all seem OK. They were manufactured in the USA by either Mallory or Sangamo(see pictures) hence the non-preferred value. In Europe they would have been made either 33000uF or 39000uF. These are two high-voltage capacitors manufactured by Condenser Products of Brooksville Florida. They are 0.1 micro-farads(100 nano-farads) at 40 kilo-volts.And are rated for pulse discharge work. These capacitors were used in transient electromagnetic source development projects.And were not used extensively(probably less than 100 hours of charge-storage time) When fully charged each of these stores 80 joules of energy. Two(2) large industrial grade Hitachi HCG F5A 3900 MFD 400 VDC(surge 450 VDC) screw type(M6) electrolytic capacitors with mounting brackets. They are used in good working condition with some signs of wear. Such as nicks and scratches. The capacitors were removed from working equipment, slowly reformed and kept at operational voltage for several hours(picture 5, just an example) I use these capacitors in my homemade tube amplifiers(last 4 pictures. Just an example) They make very quiet power supply(even though it is an overkill for a 10– 15 Watts SE class A amp) The benefit is a very clear sound with quick transients and extended bass response. However, precautions such as using a large inductor choke or resistor before the capacitor must be taken ... moreto prevent over-driving the rectifier tube. These caps pull about 200 to 275 mA of current when charging for about 8 to 12 seconds, depending on the +B voltage. It should not be a problem with a solid state rectifier.
