Presonus Digimax LT 8 channel preamp ADAT lightpipe output used GC
Presonus Digimax LT 8 channel mic preamp with 48 volt phantom power. Wordclock in/out, trs inserts on each channel, and ADAT lightpipe output. I purchased it a few months ago for a live recording project- used it on drums, extra vocals, and the like, and it did a fantastic job. I just dont have a current need for it, since I have shifted to more mixing and mastering work, so here it it. I would qualify these preamps as being on the"clean" side. Tone wise. They are very neutral in character, what you put in is what you will get out. These do NOT have any kind of built in limiter or compressor- a good thing in my opinion. If I want to compress a signal going in, I will use a dedicated compressor(which is easy with the Digimax LT- just use the insert point. If you really push the input, the high frequencies will get a little strident, ... morebut at normal levels, it is a very clean and transparent sound. The preamps have enough gain to drive my ribbon mics without any noise or weird artifacts. The insert points are very useful. You can just take the"out" feed to use going into your recorder or A/D converter, if you dont want/need the lightpipe conversion. So the preamp really works well with just about any recording setup. TL Audio Ivory - quad channel tube mic preamp
A friend turned me on to these because the bang for buck is incredibly good at a used selling price of around $100 per channel most of the time. Full disclosure: I bought this about 6 years ago and a couple of the pots were"scratchy" when I was adjusting them. I sprayed them with electronics cleaner which solved the problem. My understanding is this scratchiness occurs when pots aren't used regularly so since this preamp has been sitting in my rack doing nothing for 3+ years they may be scratchy again and need to be hit with the electronics cleaner. The batteries all seem to charge, but they are older batteries. These were pulled from service from a volunteer fire department as they were not narrow band capable and being sold as-is. They are all labeled RFD ETA-10 with a white paint pen. The belt clips are all good. The chargers all charge, but the power cords are cut off and all tied together as in a gang charger for on-vehicle charging.
