An iconic vintage Coca-Cola advertising. Mid 20th century valve radio. The radio is in Coca-Cola's corporate colours with a'Drink Coca-Cola' sign centre front. I have no idea if this radio was ever sold retail or if it was used as an advertising item in drugstores, bars and cafes. The radio was designed to work both on mains and battery. This iconic Coca-Cola mid 20th century GE valve battery/ mains radio was made by General Electric in their Canadian factory- there is a label on the base that gives details about it(see photo) I am not an expert on radios. But believe it was made in the early post war period before transistors took over the industry. The radio seems to have an appeal beyond knowledgeable specialist collectors. Having shown the radio to a number of friends who would just have it as an icon ornament or perhaps convert ... moreit to a modern digital radio. The white ceramic 2 round plug one looks still usable. This round hole would fit the slightly more narrow size plug that is not in usage these days. Bakelite is all intact on the wall plate. One side has strong fadding to brown bakelite. Extensive surface scratching to plate. One of the round seals on front of plate has a crack though it has not caused the ring to break off: it is the darker ring. A nibble 1/8 inch is out of the other lighter color bakelite ring on it's edge. The back of the 2 black round switches has British patent number. These 2 may be plastic or they ... moremay be bakelite. I do not know for sure. On the back the white porcelain female plug has a 1/2 inch chunk broken off on the underside closest to the backlite: this may not affect its operation. A hard to find item.
