Another unique item from Indelible Curiosities Antique 20 1/4" Dia Wood Factory Silk Thread Winder Great Rustic Graphic Appeal Description: Elegant and simplistic in design. This rare form of a factory silk thread winder makes a great piece of industrial art! It is very lightweight with twelve wood spokes(six on the front and six on the back) extending from an hour glass shaped wood middle with metal prongs on either end. Great patina to the wood and metal ends which was difficult to capture with our camera due to the delicate spokes filling far less of the captured image than the lighter background resulting in the winder appearing dark in most photographs. The wood varies in lightness from a medium to dark brown with most of it being dark brown not unlike that of milk chocolate. Two spokes have small areas near the center of the winder ... morewhere some wood is missing(see close up photo) from factory use which we believe only add to the its industrial charm. 1 spoke is removable; all others are not. Measures 20 1/4" diameter and 6" wide Wonderfully displayed on a table or mantle against a plain background to enable the viewer to fully appreciate the eye-catching graphic design and its changes when viewed at different angles. There are two photos of the back to show the stitching and one of the fold its been in for at least 80 years with an ordinary#2 pencil for perspective. For those that read my descriptions of items I'm selling. You'll find it difficult to believe that I'm having difficulty adequately DESCRIBING THIS QUILT TOP. Usually, there's no loss of words where I'm concerned. While I've been a Textiles collector, a Textiles dealer, and a Textiles"adorer" forever(it seems) I'm not a"quilt person" per se. First, let me tell you that this is a family made item. It was made by my Maternal Grandmother. She did the collecting of the fabric, cutting of the pieces and finally the hand stitching, over a period of time stretching ... morefrom the 1890's to the 1930's. The two quilt tops and the one crocheted bedspread project were all completed before I became her"hobby" in the the 1940's! I would have been right in the middle of them, trust me! When I was born, playing and reading to me was how she spent her non-cooking and non-housework moments. I knew the quilt tops existed, but I never unfolded and looked at them until this week. My first comment was, how did a woman have the patience and perseverance to do this? It still boggles my mind days later. I'm a realist so I'm aware that the hours of labor nor sentiment can be a part of the pricing equation. Following is a description that I'm going to try to present as factually and devoid of sentiment as possible! The Top was sewn in the 1920's and completed in the mid to late 1930's. The fabric was saved and collected starting from the 1890's to the completion in 1930's. My grandmom, born Carrie Lee Ferguson in Tuscumbia AL in 1889, was like other young girls of that era, and started sewing at early age. Fabulous Ancient Chinese Partial Tapestry Bronze & Silver Thread Foo Dogs
For sale I have a Fabulous Piece of Chinese History. I am NOT and expert in these types of items but this is truly spectacular. It is a partial tapestry from ancient China depicting the famous Foo Dogs in bronze and silver thread. The body is made of silk and other materials and is extremely colorful for it's age. Which brings me to another point. I don't have a clue how old this is but it for sure sat in an attic in Philadelphia in a box for a heckuva long time. It measures about 60" x 24" and does have what appears to be a water stain on the back of it. If you would like more photos, please let me know. Anyone who might have some knowledge as to how old it might be or it's origin I would appreciate the input.

Antique pincushion-thread box & misc.
This is a pinushion-thread box. With what appears to be a mirror on the insides cover. There is a spot on the side of the box where the silver covering has come off. There is a rose on the top, and on the inside is what appear to be a mirror. There is also 4 tiny little what look like crochet thread balls. Also is a sewing kit with 2 old thread cards, 2 hatpins, 3 basting needles, 4 old safety pins, and 5 old sewing pins, also 3 wooden spools of thread. Please look at pictures as they are part of the description. These were all found in the drawer of an old treadle that dates back to the late 1800's- early 1900's. Thanks for looking.

Set 7 Society Silk Square Cotton Coasters, Lace Tapes & Silk Thread Embroidery
Most likely unused. Set of seven(7) thin, white cotton coasters with lace tape ornamentation and gold-colored silk tread stitching. The coasters are square and measure ca 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" The set does not consist of seven identical pieces. There are differences in lace tapes and decorative silk stiches used, please look at pictures. CONDITION OF THE COASTERS: Close to excellent. Two coasters contain some fraying od the lace tapes. These were shown in pics above pencil erasers. Also. And this seems original to the pieces, not all the scalloped edges were meticulously embroidered. The coasters were recently hand laundered. Lightly starched and pressed.

Early Era(pre-WWII) thread used different dye colors and process and because of that, early era thread usually has a more brilliant/shiny look/sheen than that of the later manufactured silk threads manufactured post-WWII. This thread is the OEM thread used by Wright& McGill Granger Deluxe bamboo fly rods. Some H.L. Leonards, Montague, South Bend models and many other bamboo fly rods.
