We have very little data about this antenna. It is constructed in a sealed wooden case. Measuring 28-1/4" x 4" x 73-1/2" It has a BNC connector and a switch to select between 10 kHz to 3 MHz and 3 MHz to 30 MHz. Our best guess is that it consists of two very large loop antennas. If that is accurate, it could be useful as a wideband direction finding antenna, given a means for rotating it. The antenna is too large and too heavy to ship economically. The VFO turns very smooth& looks nice. There are two pull up handles on the top. It is missing the name placard which I believe should be on the top cover. This unit has been used for monitoring NDB and LowFER transmissions to study LF propagation in the 160 to 500kc range. On a day with good propagation and low electrical noise WWVB can be heard at 60kc. Band B. To verify operation. The radio was tuned to a local airport NDB at 353 kc and reception was clear and readable with a short length of hookup wire for an antenna. During operation. The attenuator functions as RF gain, and Cal2 Level functions as a variable IF gain. Avoid cranking the gain too high as the stage will regenerate. The 100 cycle sharp filter setting of the selectivity control appears to be inoperative and the BFO1 and BFO2 positions ... morehave not proved useful for casual monitoring. This unit has the factory mod adding BFO1. BFO2. The line power connector has an added IEC socket and filter, replacing the stock oddball power connector. This is an Original Tesoro LOBO. Not the newer Tesoro LOBO Super Traq* This metal detector is in great shape and at one point had it's battery connectors professionally replaced. I don't fully understand how to use this however I have tested it and it is able to detect my wedding right at about 12" away and also it can detect a very small flake of gold at about one inch. This metal detector seems very sensitive to small gold! I am not an expert with this metal detector so I could not figure out and test all the functions. FISHER VLF 552-D Metal Detector. Minty Looking. Orginal Box & Headphones
As I was doing my house cleaning I noticed a Fisher VLF 552-D that I purchased years ago. Vintage about 1982 should be very collectable to the right person especially the condition of this one. I don't even remember using it however there are a couple of light brush marks, small scratches, on the bottom of the in expensive removable coil cover so I guess I used it at least once or twice. The unit looks near mint to me but I didn’t take a magnifying glass to it and examine every square inch so for the sake of argument and in case there is marks, I just plane don't see, look at the pictures and judge for yourself. The 8.5 inch coil is also in great condition again look at the pictures. Detector performs as it should as I had to purchase new battery holders so I could test the functions, old ones got brittle and cracked, New installed ... morebatteries also included. This is a relic metal detector that is capable of detecting coins and relics very deep in VLF mode(normal mode) Should do excellent in the Great lakes area and or any inland area with lower mineralization, not recommended for Ocean beaches. Comes with Calrad Stereo/Mono headphones with separate volume control for each ear that also was hardly used and looks great. Comes with a 6 page operating manual. Will be shipped in the original box. Detector is perfect for trying to find those Civil war relics. Du hättest für diesen Bereich als Antennengeschädigter die Möglichkeit mit einer guten Rahmenantenne etwas zu empfangen. Was aber nur über dementsprechende Software und über den Rechner zu decodieren ist. Es wird in CW und RTTY gesendet und dies aber nicht regelmäßig. Die Stationen wirst Du ja aus dementsprechenden Frequenzlisten kennen. Ich sitze hier bei mir sehr oft am Empfänger und drehe auch mal durch diesen Bereich. Aber ich habe sehr selten die Möglichkeit gehabt, etwas dort zu empfangen ... moreund wenn ich was gehört habe, hat sich mein Rechner geweigert, dieses zu decodieren denn die Signale waren sehr schlecht. Ich nutze im Moment einen NRD 525 mit einem vorgeschalteten, komerziellen 9 Fach Preselector und nicht mal da kommen vernünftige Signale durch? Meine Meinung: Bevor Du Dich in Kosten stürtzt um ein Gerät für diesen Bereich zu erwerben überprüfe doch erst Deine Möglichkeiten im Bereich über 50 KHz. Wenn Du die Station DHJ59 aus Wilhelmshaven auf 53 KHZ in RTTY oder die Station DCF77 aus Braunschweig auf 77.5 KHZ in CW einigermaßen gut empfängst. Up for bid is a vintage Bounty Hunter Automatic 840 VLF/TR metal detector. It is in excellent cosmetic condition. This works sometimes. One minute it works, the next it doesn't, so I am selling this for parts. The speaker didn't work though. I ran a quarter under the coil and the meter pegged all the way up, but it didn't make any sound. I did this a bunch of times and it never made a sound. Then 5 minutes later it didn't work again. The battery box is very clean and trouble free. The battery door works great. The whole detector is very clean. The sticker on the coil is in excellent condition. The coil itself is in excellent condition, with only some minor scratches. This must not have been used very much. The nut on the shaft doesn't tighten enough to hold the shaft in place. The coil wire is in excellent condition. I ... moresee nothing else wrong with this. This was made in Arizona, U.S.A.
