VINTAGE RCA TOP OF THE LINE REPLACEMENT TRANSISTORS CHART GUIDE A majority of the items I have listed this week came from the estate of a serious audiophile who we'll call Monte. Monte was introduced to jazz at a young age by his father and was immediately enthralled. Once he became a planning engineer for Florida State University this gave him the finances to pursue his love of jazz. Apparently money was not an issue as he spoiled himself with all of the latest high tech equipment at the time and every few years he would upgrade his equipment. He loved his equipment as much as he loved jazz and took very good care of it. Most of his equipment had their own files where he would keep the manuals. Receipts, records of work performed, and copies of letters he would write to electronics manufacturers with recommendations for improvements ... moreto their current lineup. Traveling to and recording live jazzfests was a favorite pasttime(Monte kept files on all of the trips he made to record jazzfests including receipts. Flyers, programs, ect) He would then return to Tallahassee from these trips only to lock himself in his studio and basically engineer his recordings for the best sound possible. I have a lot of correspondence from his friends from all over the country complementing him on his exceptional mastering. Monte referred to himself as a true jazz purist(I would say more like excessive compulsive) When I was given the opportunity to purchase his audio room. It had sat untouched for approximately 5 years. All equipment was covered in plastic and looked new. His audio room resemmbled the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. The amount of jazz/ vintage audio related items is staggering. What we have up for auction is a Vintage RCA"Top of The Line" Replacement Transistors Chart and a One-Page(front and back) article from RCA Radio& Television Service News. Estate find; Vintage Portable Poppet T-401 All(4) Transistors Tape Recorder IOB from 1962. This is one cool little piece of early reel to reel history. Only thing missing from this whole package is the magnetic(small earphone) Comes in the original box. With the original operating instructions, the crystal microphone, and the original receipt dated 16 Aug 62. Also comes with an empty 3" reel and a 3" reel with tape on it. This recorder shows very little signs of usage, only(wear marks) shown are where the(magnetic) cover closes on each front corner of the case. Two tone in color, no cracks or breaks in the case. I pulled a 9 volt battery and(2) 1.5 volt batteries from the battery compartment. The battery terminals could use a slight cleaning(slight surface rust on them) the Styrofoam carrying case is missing a piece from it, one ... moreside of the Styrofoam has tape on it, and the lid(cover) of the carrying box has came unglued, there is a piece of clear plastic tape on the top cover where the name Poppet is. The actual reel to reel has no cosmetic issues with it. I have not attempted to place any batteries in it to check for operation of this machine. This will make a cool addition to any reel to reel collection. I am willing to ship Internationally too.

Years ago I parted out a Vox Dual Continental organ. The circuit board included many SFT 363 E germanium transistors. I had an acquaintance who was an amp/effect guru remove the transistors; he then tested them and matched them in pairs. I sold a lot of these back then to people who wanted to build a germanium Fuzz Face clone– these are supposed to sound very close to the NKT 275. I heard some good FF clones that were built with these transistors. This exact transistor was also used in the 1960s Vox Tone Bender. Paired with an SFT 337, so if you have one of those it might be good to have some spare transistors around. Actual item for sale is pictured.
