John Deere 70 720 730 80 820 830 pony motor. You get everything in the picture. This does not include the clutch. Transmission, carb, air cleaner, or starter. This is a very good running motor that we put a rebuilt water pump on. We put it on a test stand after we put the rebuilt pump on and it did not leak water into the oil. It barely smokes and has lots of power. This is ready to bolt on. If you want to hear or see it run, we can put it on the test stand for you. Background info of the seller: We buy a lot ponys throughout the year. We have tore down 17 already this year. This is the 2nd of 3 that we have saved from tearing down. So we have had a total of 20 ponys go thru our shop and we have only found 3 that is sellable in our eyes. Old Eisemann AM-2 Caterpillar Pony Motor Engine Magneto Hit Miss Steam Tractor
This is a real nice original Eisemann Model AM-2N two cylinder magneto that was commonly found on the starting or pony motors or engines on Caterpillar tractors. It is a base mount magneto and is in excellent condition for its age with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It mounts with two holes 2 inches apart on center and there is 3 different pairs of them. It is counterclockwise rotation and turns nicely. It has not been tested for spark. The distributor cap looks to be in great shape. The impulse is missing but these can be found from several of the hobby magneto shops. This could be a very nice magneto with just a little elbow grease. It is certainly a good starting point if you don't have one! They don't turn up very often in the wild or even at swap meets so don't miss it. The pictures tell the story. Good Luck.

Under the hood on right side of late model, U series Caterpillar D2's(5U and 4U D2's from 1947 on with main engine air cleaner behind hood, in front of operator) May also fit D4 Cat's(which used the same pony motor) Oil bath air cleaner is clean inside. Cup is in good shape. The two bolts and wing nuts that hold cup in place are missing(common 1/4-20 by 3" long square head bolts and 1/4-20 wing nuts) Looks like one of the tapped mounting holes is stripped in intake tube. Up for bid is a nice vintage pony motor carburetor. Zenith part number 12303A and Cat part number 9H-6181. This item was obtained from an old service garage and is not a newly remanufactured part. According to my vintage Fuel Manuals, this is used on the following models and years: Caterpillar D9& D342 Engine.1957. 1958, 1959, 1960 The assembly is in good to excellent used condition. All the parts intact. Except the choke butterfly and set screw is missing. Someone has secured that section of the carb with a wire to hold the lever in place. I did examine the piece and the throttle butterfly is intact and moves freely. The elbow is still attached, but does have some residual gasket material on it and will need to be polished up before installation. Cast on the Zenith metal ID tag is 9H-6181 and 12303A. Good used starter. This is 6 volt. Cw rotation, 16 teeth on the gear. This fits John Deere 70 diesel with starting motor. The Delco number is 1107150. The John deere number is AF1986, also number, 4060, pic number is 140-9919. Starter runs good. Questions call six 18 nine 19 zero 186. Thanks.

John Deere 70 Pony Motor Throttle / choke levers 720 730
