140kV High Voltage Transformer/ Multiplier Board This is a high voltage board from an industrial X-ray head which was used in a Phillips Dynavision x-ray machine for scanning hand carried items. It is designed for around 525 Volts at 29-30 kHz square wave input(on the two green wires) and puts out 140.000 Volts DC to an X-ray tube. The actual output is derived from two separate Cockcroft-Walton Multipliers(one positive 70kV and one Negative 70kV) The outputs can be taken together as 140kV or either +70kV with respect to ground(black wire) or as-70kV with respect to ground. These are of course the maximum voltages and can be varied from 0 to the maximum by varying input voltage. The unit is designed to be submerged in oil to prevent breakdown. Although I have driven one of these units to around 40kV in air before the corona got too bad.
