The battery box has a little corrosion in it from batteries left in it too long-I cleaned the terminals and put batteries in it and switched it on. The red light does not light up, though it may be just to indicate low batteries. What you see is what is included. Its condition is very good with nothing cracked or broken. Strip Chart Recorder- very clean- little or no use w/extras! This item is a Houston Instruments(Bausch& Lomb) D-5117-5 Strip Chart Recorder. It was found in a box. And appears to be virtually new. No drops of ink or any other signs of prior use. Other than. Perhaps it did have a roll of paper loaded. Even the input screws in the rear are in the fully screwed down position. In'check mode' The'zero' control is very smooth, and the pen flies(almost silently) back-at-forth very responsively to the control knob. Don't you just love strip chart recorder? This unit is quite complete. The following items are included: 1) one roll of paper(installed) 2) three boxes of paper new in boxes(four 100 ft. rolls per box) 3) New ink pens(Five plastic packages- four per package(two red& two black) 4) Clear plastic instrument cover- ... morecover is printed: OmniScribe recorder BAUSCH& LOMB houston instruments division" 5) Manual for D-5000 Note: this units model number is: D5117-5. I believe the difference between the included manual. And the actually unit is in the number of channels. The unit you are bidding on is a single channel(single pen) unit. The Manual(D-5000) is for two channel units. But. From a user's point of view, I doubt this makes any difference. After all. Why would the D-5000 manual have been packed with this D5117-5? Condition notes(read carefully) I did note a couple of condition issues: 1) In testing the unit. The high-speed switch position seemed to be intermittent. However. I quickly realized that it was the 3-position speed selection switch itself at fault, and I moved that switch back and forth through its range a few times. Click-click-click-click- that seemed to clear up the problem. Remember. This recorder has been stored for a very long period of time. 2) the"paper-pulling wheels" located at the point where the paper just leave the unit) had some rubber'gummy substance' on them.
