Vintage 30's deco Lux "tape measure" painted metal desk wind-up clock!
Here is a circa 1935 art deco clock from the Lux Clock Co. of Waterbury. CT. It is a rotary type wind-up clock with a light green painted brass& steel case. The case measures 5" in dia on the base and is 3" high. It has paint loss and is pretty rough on the top. It could stand to be sanded down and repainted. The tape ribbon with numbers is in good shape as is the bottom of the case as well. The pointer shows the hour and minute on the tape measure as the top rotates. It is not over-wound but I could only get it to run for a few seconds at a clip. Probably needs to be cleaned and lubricated. It has a Fast-Slow adjustment on the bottom of the clock. It is the Caterpillar Equipment Dealer for the State of Arkansas. The front of the tape measure is black and the lettering and logo are yellow. The border around the front and sides is silver and the back is silver(silver-tone. Of course– not the real deal) The tape itself extends to about 33” The size of the tape measure is about 1 ½” x 1 ½” It measures in both inches and millimeters. GREAT Antique Tiny Wooden Barrel Sewing Tape Measure w/ Turn Knob Top
This is one of my favorite very old sewing tape measure! It is in the shape of a tiny wooden barrel; it is only 1-inch tall to the top of the barrel and 1 1/2 inches tall to the top of the carved knob. The bottom diameter is 3/4-inch. There is a small button sewn to the end of the tape to pull it out- probably taking the place of a worn off metal end. The tape has 37 marked inches on it. Then the top knob can be turned to wind it back inside the barrel. No markings of maker anywhere. Really a sweet antique Victorian sewing piece! Buyer pays 3.50 flat rate first class mail.
