VINTAGE RCA VICTOR TUBE AMP STEREO PHONOGRAPH CONSOLE RK-290 IVF619
This is a 1960s RCA Victor Stereo Console RK-290(IVF619) I've never seen a console like this before. So I really don't know too much about it; but it's large, classy, stylish and ornate! Not too many of them are around anymore in this condition so I believe it's rare. There's a small square area on the left top of the cabinet where the finish is worn off; but other than that, it's in beautiful condition and all components work! There's a small red button on the bottom of the middle speaker that may need a bulb(it does not light up) It has a French Provincial hutch-style cabinet which I believe is made of cherry wood(but not positive) The speakers are on the top of the hutch and there's three doors on the bottom with unusual handles. The first door pulls open like a drawer and contains the AM/FM Tuner. It says"Automatic ... moreFrequency Control Filteramic Antenna" on the FM part and"Stereophonic High Fidelity" on the AM part. It has all the knobs and buttons. The second drawer slides out and has an RCA Victor phonograph. The third door is an empty storage space. I'm including the original installation operation instructions which say"Total Sound Stereo-Orthophonic High Fidelity" on it. This unit measures about 52 inches wide; 55 inches high; 16 inches in depth; and I believe it weighs at least 300 pounds. It's pretty heavy! Due to the weight and vintage. 1939 RCA Victor VA-20 Wireless 78 RPM Record Player in Working, Restored Cond!!
Very nice. And not often seen, 1939 RCA Victor VA-20 wireless 78 RPM record player. I went through this player and replaced the electrolytic and wax/paper capacitors, and checked and replaced any out of tolerance resistors and tubes. I also installed a new Phanstienl P-228 ceramic cartridge, and a new polarized power cord. To reduce the stylus pressure to an acceptable weight for the new ceramic cartridge, I installed a small spring on the back of the tonearm. The record player works by adjusting the setting on the back of the player to a AM frequency on the lower end of the scale of the radio it is transmitting to. The player works probably as well as any of thesr wireless players do, but it will not receive any awards for fidelity! This was very early, cutting edge technology for 1939. The player needs to be fairly close to the radio it ... moreis transmitting to. Note that the above link is for reference only and does not show the exact player listed here. The type of motor(synchronous? requires"push starting" with a gentle push in the direction of desired rotation. This is normal and is how the player was designed. The bakelite case is in very nice condition. With no cracks or breaks that I can see. The decal on the tonearm was replaced with an exact reprocuction of the original RCA Victor one. The fiberboard bottom and label are in nice, original condition. The flocking on the turntable platter is a bit worn, but is perfectly useable. While I have looked the record player over and made some upgrades. Please note that this is an antique electrical device, and it should be operated with care. At no time should the player be played with the bottom off. I also recommend that the record player not be left plugged in when not in use. Being that it is a vintage electrical item, I assume no responsibility for any personal or property damage that might occur from its use. VTG RCA VICTOR RESISTOR COLOR CODE DIAL MECHANICAL PENCIL "BODY END DOT" 1930s?
For sale is an interesting estate find. This is an RCA"color code" mechanical pencil for determining color coding of resistors to use in old electronic equipment. Pen turns just fine. But I do not know how or if it works properly. Brass has nice patina and no corrosion. Color bands are clear and still very legible. Do not know who made it, there is no name. I believe it dates to the 1930's according to a website I visited. Solid overall condition with no cracks or deep scratches. Nice pencil! Questions? Email me please.
