Gibson's top of the line archtop of the day. Only the Super 400 w as of comparable pric e in 1967. This is a double pickup. Pickguard mounted, floating pickup, full acoustic to p archtop guitar as designed and used by J ohnny Smith. T hese guitars are extremely ornamental with m ultiply binding. Bound f-h oles. Kluson sealfast tuners, ex ceptional ly figured tonewoods. And tap-tuned t ops of the highes t quality. The ne ck is 5 ply with 2 mahogany string e rs. The inlay and mother of pearl are second to none. The guitar is in good to very good condition with original frets. El ectronics. Hardware and case. The guitar has honest play wear and w as own ed by a professional jazz musician ... morefor 4 5 ye ars. T here is play wear consistent with years of use and the original frets show unif orm but substantial wear. The fretboard shows uniform wear. The disintegrated pickguard has been replaced with a luthier created multiply bound r eplacement. There is some over spray on the back o f the neck and body and there is a touched up area on the back of the nec k but overall the guitar is in good to very good condition. The fro nt and sides are original finish. T here are no cracks that I can detect. There is one ding in the waist of the bass side and a scratch but I do not believe it to be a crack.
