Beautiful Rogers Smith& Co. silverplate revolving castor set. I believe this dates from 1862-65. Fine quality silverplate in exceptional condition. Simple but elegantly designed. The bottles have an etched circle pattern all the way down to the bottom of the bottle. The five bottles are all in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and all have their tops. The 2 tall bottles have 2 different stoppers but similar. The are both blown but different shape don't know if they were supposed to be that way or one was replaced. Both fit perfectly. The silverplate is in excellent condition and is shined up. There is one small spot on the top where the holes for the bottles are where there is a small spot of mild wear but this is barely noticeable at all. Almost new size between a 7 1/2 and 7 5/8 Don Smith chassuers style CS kepi. Cadet Grey Mickey Black jean body and crown. Red flannel band. Bound painted cloth bill and functional painted cloth chin strap. Osnaberg lining. This is an impressive cap. It was made with a tremendous amount of skill and workmanship. The one thing I must say about this Kepi is that it is a lower profile cap. It is made exactly like the real deal and they didn't make huge sized kepis in the 1860's. Especially, it seems, for artillery. The cap would also definitely work for someone with a smaller head size. You would only have to make some minor adjustments for a better fit. Posted with
