This is a lovely rare and very old antique solid silver& gilt miniature coal scuttle with embossed cherubs set in a garden. It has clear hallmarks which are easy to read. The marks are as follows: makers initials J.S which is John George Smith, London Assay marks a lion, a letter c and a Lions head, which dates this piece 1898. The miniature is in beautiful condition with no damage at all to it. The coal scuttle is gilded inside. Has a raised handle, hinged lid with tiny glaspe, all in working order. Condition: The binding is strong and holding firmly with repairs to spine ends. Boards are damp-stained, calf rubbed and scuffed, corners bumped. Contents are holding firmly though damp-stained throughout toward upper edges, most severe to the first twenty-five maps plus prelims, the second half(which includes Greece, World, Middle East/India, and the Americas) less severely affected, most maps are stained on mostly outer edge of map. The map paper is not brittle and there are no tears, cuts, chipping or markings on maps other than stains. Some general light dust-soiling and finger-marking. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION! You are looking at an EXTREMELY rare bass right here! This is a 1990 Paul Reed Smith 5 String Bass known as the“PRS Bass 5” Serial Number: 040102. This is part of the original run of PRS basses back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Not the reissued stuff that is of significantly lesser quality. Making this bass even rarer is the 4 pickup active system installed in it. Basically there are 3 pickups on the front, and 1 on the back that pairs with any of the 3 front coils to have a humbucker circuit. This bass sounds MASSIVE! The active circuit can also be removed and replaced with traditional passive pots and switching(more on this later) ... moreCompletely handmade right here in the USA and even better made during the era in which PRS put out some of the finest instruments ever built. The good: This is the 5 string version. Which is practically impossible to find; it features a Brazilian Rosewood 22 fret finger board on a maple neck, mahogany body, black finish, master volume, mini toggle for“deep” or“clear” tone choices, bass and treble boosts, and 5 way pickup selector controls, bolt on neck, and everything completely stock and included the original hardshell case! The bad: this is a players bass! Take good note of the pictures, there are quite a few dings and a couple chips. There was a new hole drilled for a strap button(pictured) At one point in time, another owner had swapped out the active controls for passive ones. All that he did was remove the circuit board and wire all the pickups to a master volume and master tone and was set to go. This has since been reversed and totally restored to the factory original electronics, pictures are included of the new wiring. The hole for the mini toggle may have been ever so slightly expanded, but a slightly larger washer takes care of that, but I still can’t

This lot of little Taylor Smith and Taylor plates. Homer Laughlin designed, are pretty for display or use. They each have a wonderful embossed edge of flowers and leaves. Two of the plates and the bowl are in the burgandy Harvest pattern depicting an urn of fruit surrounded by leaves and flowers. The other plate in the Pastoral pattern depicts a farmer plowing his fields.
