VINTAGE BOB'S BIG BOY RES TAURANT ASHTRAY Bob's Big Boy Restaurant was founded in Southern California in 1936. It was originally named Bob's Pantry. It is now part of the Big B oy Corporation. Bob's restaurants were located in many states over the years. Including Ari zona. Hawaii, New York, etc. Bob's Big Boy Restaurant is now only located in Southern California. The Bob's at 42ll R iverside Drive in Burbank is the oldest remaining Bi g Boy in the U.S. It was built in 1949 and many movie actors were regulars at the restaurant; Mickey Rooney. Debbie Rey nolds. And Bob Hope, to name a few. Even the Beatles ate there in 1965 when they were on their U.S. Tour. This Bob's has been designated a California point of historical interest. Charcoal gray glass ashtray measuring 4" in diameter. It features dark orange ... morelettering that reads"Enjoy a B IG BOY America's Favorite Hamburger. There is a dark orange circle with the word"Bob' s" in side and the Bi g Boy character next to it. It is in good used condition. The lettering and picture of the Big Boy are still very visible. But have faded somewhat. There are some scratches on the glass. As would be expected with normal use. On t he rim there are spots that are rough to the touch. When looked at very closely. You can see there are some tiny chipped areas. This is also on the inside of the rim. Especially in one area which can be seen best in photo 3. This item would have been handled a lot over the years being so utilitarian. But has survived basically intact. We do not know which Bob's location this ashtray came from. Vintage glass celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Big Boy restaurant chain in 1986. Known as Bobs Big Boy when it opened in 1936. On one side is the Big Boy logo as he looked in 1936 and on the other side as he looked in 1986. On both sides is. Where Americas Been Getting Together For 50 Years. The glass measures 6-1/4" tall and has a heavy sturdy base. Excellent condition, does not appear to have been used for drinking, only storage or display. No chips, cracks or decal loss.
