This listing is for an authentic vintage antique collector's sample of barbed wire fencing. This wire features a John D. Curtis patent. Dated March 15, 1892. This wire is called"Curtis' Two-Point Half-Round Twist Lock Barbs on Round and Large Teardrop Lines" by collectors. ref. Hagemeier LISTING NOT FOUND) This wire features two twisted together line wires. Barbed line is round in cross section, and non barbed line is a heavier gauge tear drop shape in cross section. Barbs are two pointed made from half-round stock. Barbs are wrapped once around the round line wire, with flat side against line wire. After wrapping tips of barbs are twisted inwards one-quarter turn to lock barb to line wires. Wire sample is 18" in length. It shows age and use wear, with moderate pitting. There are six barbs, well spaced, and cut is well ... morecentered. There is some light bending of barbs, but no broken on missing barbs. Wire is in good used condition. Improving pasture land, grafting, the culture of plants, and insects. William Curtis[1746-1799] was an English botanist and entomologist. Who was born at Alton, Hampshire. Curtis began as an apothecary, before turning his attention to botany and other natural history. The publications he prepared effectively reached a wider audience than early works on the subject had intended. At the age ... moreof 25 he produced Instructions for collecting and preserving insects; particularly moths and butterflies. Curtis was demonstrator of plants and Praefectus Horti at the Chelsea Physic Garden from 1771 to 1777. He established his own London Botanic Garden at Lambeth in 1779, moving to Brompton in 1789. He published Flora Londinensis(6 volumes, 1777–1798) a pioneering work in that it devoted itself to urban nature. He went on the publish The Botanical Magazine in 1787, a work that would also feature hand coloured plates by artists such as James Sowerby, Sydenham Edwards, and William Kilburn. Curtis was to gain wealth from the ventures into publishing. His publication was continued as the esteemed botanical publication, Curtis's Botanical Magazine. He is commemorated in a stained glass window at St. Mary's Church, Battersea, as many of his samples were collected from the churchyard there. This was a great find at a Estate sale I found of Old Vintage Photograure Titled. Dated, credited in plate by Edward S. Curtis. Which lived 1868- 1952 and these 4 of the Published- The North American Indian between 1907- 1930, these from the 1960s and were in the basement and taped together by masking tape, I know a mistake but thats what they are. All 4 have some damages from masking tape and age and not taken care of properly, the first one is- MASKED DANCERS- QAGYUHI- PLATE NO. 358 2nd one is- CANON DE CHELLY- NAVAHO- PLATE NO. 28 and the 3rd one is- WASHING WHEAT- SAN JUAN- PLATE NO. 594 and the 4th one is- PAINTING A HAT- NAKOAKTOR- PLATE NO. 329 and they are Rare to find. Edward S. Curtis Gallery sells 2 of these. If in great condition just the Masked Dancers- Qagyuhi Plate No. has sold for $2500 to $4000, I know all 4 I have have damages ... moreand not in that condition, but I belive some one with knowledge to restore a wnnderful collection of Native American Art. The prints are over 50 years old, I will list accordingly to damages and apperance. IF SOLD OUT OF THE USA IT WILL COST MORE TO SHIP.

One of his earliest models was Princess Angeline, the aged daughter of Sealth, the Suquamish chief after whom Seattle was named. Later, as an official photographer of the 1899 Harriman Expedition, Curtis documented the geological features of the Alaskan wilderness as well as its indigenous population. This was a pivotal experience for Curtis and greatly increased his interest in Native cultures. He visited tribal communities in Montana and Arizona and began in earnest to photograph many other Native Americans in the West, spending more time in the field and less time in his studio.

S igned by the amazing well known lis ted artist Curtis Jere as well as dated 1970. It is one of his many owl forms. This is a singl e owl standing on a branch with leaves. It is a hand made piece as with all of Jere items. It is brass cut and welded. The owl has nice wings& parts. The eyes are missing one. They are large painted eyes mounted on a small round backing.
