Made between 1947 and 1952 and super rare especially in this condition. It looks as if it were only fished a few times. Includes original cloth sack in great condition and the original aluminum tube in really good condition. The rod casts a Cortland 4 weight DT Sylk fly line beautifully. I have this same rod that I fish with and it handles 4-5 lb fish easily. All sections are equal length. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want a 7 1/2 footer to fish or put in your collection buy it now cause it won’t last long. All the wraps look great. The cork looks really good with only some dirtiness from honest use. Varnish is really nice with only a couple minor flaws from use and starting to turn darker from age. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 7 ½’ length makes for a great little rod on smaller spring creeks capable of handling fish up to 4-5 lbs. It's pretty light, impressive. Don't you want to be the guy on your fishing trip this year showing off what an OLD Granger can do? This rod will be expertly packaged and shipped insured to your location. I am an honest seller. And my goal is to put these rods and reels back on the rivers and streams to be used rather than collect dust. VTG WRIGHT & McGILL GRANGER 8642 Bamboo Fly Rod 8 1/2' STREAM & LAKE
The Granger 8642's have got to be the most iconic western taper bamboo fly rod in history. I like them because they are very versatile and can cast in all situations including when the winds pick up and will fish a 5 or a 6. My story this past summer included my first outing with an 8642 Special and was 3 days on the B_r River in Montana. We fished the upper head waters for up to 16" Cutts and the Special was a ball. Then we fished lower. Larger waters for nice sized, hard fightin' bows. I could not believe that I was making 60' casts with a hopper in the wind. Later in the day I switched over to a nymph rig and was amazed at how well it could mend the line. I even fished streamers with the fear of nicking the rod but it performed flawlessly. Now I don't know about you, but that is the type of waters that I normally fish, ... moremuch more than the dainty little creeks. I am having a hard time fishing with graphite again! This rod is very nice. But has a couple of minor issues. One guide on the mid has been re-wrapped with the correct scarlet red. It was done nicely and other than it looking slightly newer than the rest of the wraps, you can hardly tell. One tip had a splinter on the top 6" and has been wrapped in clear. It is even hard to tell in the pics and should fish like the other tip, which is excellent. The finish on the rod is near flawless and shines like new. The pics show the condition of the grip and seat. Ferrules have a nice fit. Sock is original but the tube is a few inches longer than the rod. Classic 7' Bamboo Fly Rod by Charles Grove, Maker 2/2 With Bag And Aluminum Tube
I have not been able to find out anything about Charles Grove. The maker. This 7 foot, 2 piece, 2 tip rod is beautifully designed and executed. The cork cigar grip tapers to a cork reel seat with two sliding rings. The cork has no chips or gouges. Both tip sections are 3/4" longer than the butt section, looks like the rod may have been built that way. All sections are essentially straight. The ferrules are"popping" tight. The female ferrule on the butt has a soldered ring welt. The stripper guide has an artificial agate liner. The snake guides are pristine, with transparent wraps. The rod is designed to cast a 4 weight line. I have not put a line on it but in flexing it feels like a good dry fly rod. This rod is in excellent condition. It comes with a cloth bag in a good quality aluminum tube.

Exact item shown. This is a bamboo fly rod that assembles in 3 pieces. I weighed the three pieces on my postal scale. It weighs 5.4 ounces. Each piece is 35 inches long. Near the handle there is a decal with H-I and a fish, and another decal that says"Spinner" The cardboard tube is black. Steel ends, good condition. The rod is in a greenish fabric bag with separate compartments for each rod component. I don't know anything about fly fishing. I have tried to describe the rod carefully, I see no damage, no wear, no stains, etc. There is some darkening of the cork handle from holding it, and a little wear on one edge of the decal, othewise to me it looks absolutely like new. This is a very unique lot we have up for sale. One of the fishing poses is a three piece and looks old. It screw together and has an old red tag on the bottom but we can't find a company name. This is a very sought after fly rod because of the 7 foot size and high quality make. I found in a garage sale and never fished with it. Has 2 tips. Sock and aluminum case with cap. Guides and ferrules are all solid and tight. I can see no noticeable sets. The rod sock shows no signs of use either. It is clean with no water spots, mildew or dirt stains. The information on the original cloth carrying case has that information plus it says"Butt- 3" Joints( Extra tip, No. 3CC, Cork grip, 4-6 1/2, 9 ft( The cloth case has a couple of rips in it and some water marks. The pole fits neatly into a grooved core for safe keeping. I believe that A&I label was used from 1906-23. The rod is combination rod made by Montague in the early 1907-teens because of the reel seat and end plug, a variation of a 1907 patent. It is well over 100 years old and only had one owner. H L Leonard Bamboo Fly Rod Model 36
Up for sale is a H L Leonard Model 36 7 1/2' 3/2. All the sections are full length. Straight and the furrels are tight. Rod comes with bag and original tube as seen in pictures. The rod has been refinished and is smooth with no cracks on the guide wraps. The rod is honey colored with red wraps and a honey wood colored reel seat. I fished both tips a handful of times lightly casting dries on Silver Creek in Idaho and surrounding waters, it fished great as a 3 weight for me. The reason I'm selling is just that, I don't use this enough and would prefer to invest in some photography gear. The one flaw is the rod has a 1/2' clear wrap on one of the two tips. I bought the rod this way and have fished it with no noticeable affects. This flaw can be seen in the photos located by the piece of black paper seen in the photos. Cummins 9' 0" Split Bamboo Fly Rod A 2 section rod and 9'0" long. Rod number is B700. Made from split bamboo with crimson tyings. Agate butt and end rings with full open bridge intermediates. Butt cap marked with makers details. Complete with bag. In very good condition. Sections are straight and correct length. Tight joint. Varnish and tyings are generally sound. A hardly used brass fly reel with the original finish. It is 2 1/2" diameter. And the spool is 1" wide. It weighs 6.3 oz. and will balance a 7 1/2' bamboo fly rod, and looks very graceful. 3 nice fly rods. LM Dickson 3 pc. bamboo rod. I believe it's a 6-7 wt. The name Amos has been lightly carved into the cork handle. I have been lazy about it. And haven't sanded it out. I do that for you if you want. The graphite rod is a Reliance 8" 6-7 wt. The Ted Williams rod is an 8"6" 8 wt. fiberglass rod. My grandfather taught my brother and I how to fly fish on one of these rods. Still a great rod to fish with. Thanks!

Phillipson Paragon fly rod 8 1/2' - 5 bamboo 3 section very nice original cond.
Today I purchased this Phillipson Paragon fly rod at an estate sale. I don't know really anything about it other than I have read that they fish very well. And I know they were made in the fifties. This is a 3 section 8 1/2' 5 HDH. It also has what looks like a small b with an 8 in front of the length designation. It is in very good overall condition for the age, and does not appear to have any real damage or problems other than very minor scuffs and scratches. It was obviously owned by someone who liked to use it, and it has been well used, but probably has a lot of life left in it. The ferrules seem tight, all the guides are still tightly wrapped, and I do not see any cracks or repairs. This is one unbelievable piece of fishing history! Here is a C.Farlow& Co London England Big Game rod and cradle style reel with dates approx. 1925.This combo is also 1 of only 3 known according to the previous owner. The rod is 6 section split bamboo and is 7' 2" when together. This is however a removable butt section and rod will break down at butt to 5' 6" The brass butt cap has the numbers 11492 stamped in lower section. The guides appear to be nickel silver and are attached to rod with yellow wraps. The guides are trumpet like with agate inserts. The reel is a narrow 12/0 and has 7"side plates and is 3 1/4" wide. It is in perfect working condition and has a brass star drag. Clicker and free spool system. I took it out and put it up against my Mint Superlight with 4 Pound Test, Both Rods using an Orvis 50A with Daiwa Steez 4 pound test line. The Rod offered Felt Very Much Like. When you loose the tip on a Heavy or Heavier Rod well it's pretty much shot, but when you loose the tip on a Whippy Super Ultra Light, you end up with basically a Light Weight better suited for lines between 3 1/2 and 6 Weight. Vintage E C Powell Split Bamboo B 9 Fly Rod MINT cond. circa 1945 w/ 3 Tips Case
AT AUCTION. NO RESERVE: This is a one-of-a-kind E. C. Powell hand-built split bamboo fly rod in almost-new condition. This would be the crown jewel in any collection. First, the basic description, according to the owner: This fly rod was built around 1945 by E. C. Powell for my great uncle, Joe McMullen, who fished with Mr. Powell. I can guarantee that it was built by Mr. Powell himself. As a kid, I fished with"Uncle Joe" and E. C. Powell's son, Clyde Powell, at the Sizemore Ranch near Meeker, Colorado. Uncle Joe left this rod to me, and it's been put away since then. The rod itself is a model B-9, 9 1/2 footer and would have been used primarily for steelhead, Patent Number 9132986. The kit is complete and includes three tips-another distinguishing feature of this particular rod-and the original cloth bag, and the original ... morealuminum case. I have been in contact with the E. C. Powell Fly Fishers Club regarding this particular rod, and my asking price is based on research and correspondence with the Club. Two of the tips are 47 1/2 inches long; the third is 57 1/2 inches long. The two 47 1/2 inch tips are of two different thicknesses. Engraved in the bottom of the reel seat is 4 1/2. Perhaps the line weight used by Mr. McMullen. A rod like this does not come up for sale very often. In any condition. This rod is pristine. There are no nicks or marks on the reel seat, the cork handle looks new, the wraps are all tight and solid, the varnish is clear and smooth, and all the parts you could ask for are there. This is a nice vintage bamboo fly rod by Kingfisher. It is a 9ft rod 3-piece with an additional tip section. The rod is all original, in good condition with no missing parts and is very straight. The original Kingfisher label is in good condition depicting the Kingfisher bird. This came from an estate and I really don't know any other details. I do believe it is a very good price as I am not a collector.

Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod - Nickle Silver Hardware, Agate tip tops
Decided to let go of another rod. It is a vintage rod with no makers marking other than the signature wrap. Have been told that it could be an early high end Montague from the 1920s. But that's just an opinion. I haven't fished this rod or cast it so don't know the line weight, but would guess it to be a 4 or 5wt. I have the original bag and tube, but the tube is missing the cap. I'm pretty sure the finish has been redone by a previous owner. It's a three piece 9 1/2' all the sections are full length. Bamboo has the mottled flamed appearance. The two tips are wrapped differently photo 11 shows it best. one tip has a wider wrap of green& red which I assume one is for wet fly and the other is for dry fly. This is for a vintage Bamboo fly rod. The rod is 4 pc I think it is 2 ends and the middle and handle. i dont know anything about rods but this one looks very nice and well made. I can not find a name anywhere on this rod. Maybe the red handle will give it away to someone but I dont know. There is 2 problems with the rod. The first is the one end that connects the rod is detached(See Pic) and the other is the one tip on the one end is missing. The finish on the rod is very shiny and nice.
