This is a really nice example of a Pure Oil Company"Safe Driving Award" 15 year pin that has nice enameling and it is still unopened on the original award card. This great lapel pin measures approx. 5/8 of an inch across and it is in simply remarkable condition with the card marked"L.G. Balfour Co. Attleboro. Mass. We have not removed the pin from the card or from the plastic so we do not know how or if the backing is marked. This is a very bright and shiny pin with nice enameling and the original card is dated 1961. Here we have a vintage European grain sack. Vintage means organic. No chemicals were used in the manufacture process some 70-80 years ago. This fabric was: handspun home weaved on a manual loom hand sewn pure 100% hemp red stripe only on one face It has no tears. Has been very carefully sewn. Has a drawstring. I has been washed to remove flour or corn meal from the fibers. So it is rough. May benefit from a professional washing and tumbling. Hemp generally will get softer with use and after each wash. The hemp fabric is extremely durable. It doesn't rot in the water. Ships rigging were made from hemp and lasted many years in salt water. From all the sacs we sold this one has maximum coolness factor! Looks so primitive. Could be used as a prop in a movie or in a museum.
