I don't know what year this was made but it came from a local estate of an elderly peson who hoarded and collected all types of circus collectables, some dating back to the 30's. SIX FOOT ROUND BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA BE PREPARED Flag ~ Banner BSA
This is a round Boy Scout of America insignia piece measuring almost six foot around. I do not know the material. It is soft and smooth, not satin, perhaps old duck. There are three double seamed areas, one running through the center and one on the bottom quarter. The last is a few inches from the top. All these seams are intact. The close zig zag stitches holding the insignia in place are coming away at areas, please refer to the last two photos. There are small holes in some places. Loose threads showing at the non-selvaged edges. The piece is still very intact. I see no place to hang it from and I see no maker marks. The undersurface has some dark marks particularly noticeable on the golden yellow areas, perhaps it was placed on the floor. This is an estate find so I know nothing about it. It has no musty odor although it can use a good ... moreairing out. It is navy blue and golden yellow- I hung it in front of a window for photos and it makes it look lighter in color. Terrific item. The banner has been professionally restored& placed on linen. Huge- 33"x116. Film starred Rod La Roque, Leatrice Joy, Nita Naldi, Theodore Roberts, Estelle Taylor, Richard Dix. The banner offers stunning imagery. Fabulous graphics. Very displayable. Banner has some overall wear& there's areas where the cloth has thinned. But is still great looking. Prior to being linen backed, the banner had crease& scuffs. Bottom white border has been trimmed off. No artwork is missing. The restorer left on the name of the theatre, the play dates& the admission prices. Even tho the banner is not mint. It's great looking. Opportunity to purchase a truly rare classic movie poster.
