And two screws in the top plate either side of center. The screws do dual purpose to help hold the skaters boot in place and to attach the steel blade to the foot plate. Only one leather strap has survived the years. The strap has very unusual buckle. And is stamped patented. To show the maker mark I used chalk to make it easier to read. M1917A1 Helmet Original M1917A1 combat helmet as worn immediately prior and just after US entry into WW2[Louisiana Maneuvers. Pearl Harbor, Bataan, etc. Steel shell still retains aprox. 80-85% original dark OD green textured paint, nevber been repainted, heat treat number marked 18B under rear rim. Brown leather liner mounted on aluminum frame with khaki canvas web chin straps, brass hook and raised bar buckle, and steel adjuster tab. Liner is very dry. Stiff and fragile with several tears to tongues and quite a bit of staining from moisture, mainly to edges of tongues. Horse hair filled center pad is still present in crown. Steel adjuster tab has worn through chin strap webbing[a common problem with these straps-strap is still intact, but damage is obvious-does not show from outside, though] Leather tie thongs have been replaced.
