They have been carefully kept in a wooden box since then(box not included) I was always tough to tin the tips to keep them from oxidation and to protect them from tip damage and so these tips have a protective layer- of solder on each tip put there on purpose. They could easily be wiped off once heated if you want. They have low use on them and are in good condition with a lot of life left in each one, so they should last you along time! All the items came from the estate of a man who had owned a Electronic Parts& Service Shop in Hollywood during the 1960s- 1970s. All the packing boxes were stored in his garage for at least the last 25-30 years. He died about 20 years ago. I am not sure if these parts went directly from the shop into his garage. Or possibly he was also working out of his home. I am not familiar with electronics so I am not sure if they deteriorate with age, or possibly from how they were stored.
