This is an HP Agilent 8672A Signal Generator. The 8672A Synthesized Signal Generator. With a frequency range of 2GHz to 18GHz, this generator will cover those high frequency requirements. The RF output is constantly variable from +1 dBm to-120 dBm with an output impedance of 50 ohms. Spectral purity is excellent on this generator and phase-locked loop responses are optimized to allow the 8672A to exhibit the lowest possible single-sideband phase noise. It is programmable from the front-panel or a rear HP-IB connector. The generator is capable of both AM and FM modulation internally. This unit is in need of calibration. It does work as intended. This unit has been carefully cleaned and serviced. The main Power supply(which often fails on these units) has been swapped out relatively recently with a brand new board! This unit has been thoroughly checked out. Aligned and works perfectly(see pics below) The output flatness is outstanding- measured with a power meter to about +/ 0.3dB over the full frequency range. There are no gaps in the frequency coverage(see pic) as often happens when these fail. The frequency reference has been calibrated to a GPS locked Rubidium standard. And of course the phase noise and spectral purity is outstanding. I have been repairing and servicing RF test equipment for many years and invest ... moremany hours in each piece of equipment I offer.
