You are bidding on a vintage Hewlett Packard model 608C VHF signal generator. HP was one of the great innovators in electronic test equipment starting after World War II. They built superior quality gear which every technician dreamed of owning. This listing is for an HP 608C VHF signal generator. Serial number 010-02831. This beautiful piece of vacuum tube technology covers the frequency range of 10-480 MHz in five bands. Tuning is incredibly precise, and the instrument includes many extra features(see front panel) Construction is very rugged(see photos 6 and 7) HP built these units for field work as well as laboratory bench testing, so they were very tough. It uses 15 vacuum tubes, possibly a record number for this kind of equipment. This unit is in original unmolested condition(see photos) It powers up and generates a signal. But has not ... morebeen tested for accuracy of calibration. Given its age(approx 50 years) the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply should be reformed by bringing up the voltage gradually using a Variac. Or you might just replace them. This instrument may be old. But it's better than almost anything being made today. I have been collecting antique radios for more than 30 years.
