HP8671B Synthesized Microwave Signal Generator. Frequency Range = 2 to 18.5GHz(1KHz steps to 6.2GHZ. 2KHz steps 6.2 to 12.4GHZ, and 3KHz steps 12.4 to 18.5GHz) Output level is fully adjustable-120dBm to + 10dBm over this entire range. This unit has outstanding Phase noise and easily exceeds its specifications. At 10GHz I measured-112dBc/Hz@ 100KHz(spec is-104) 92.5dBc/Hz@ 10KHz(spec is-80) and-82.3dBc/Hz@ 1KHz(spec is-72) See the pics below. This is a late production unit in outstanding condition. It has clearly seen very little use. The inside is spotless and looks absolutely brand new. The fan runs very quiet. I have worked on many of these units and know what to look for and how to evaluate these. This one has been very thoroughly checked out and I guarantee that you will be very pleased with it. It is working perfectly. Thae Phase noise ... morehas been carefully evaluated. Phase noise at 10GHz. 100KHz is shown below(112.1dBc/Hz) Phase noise at 10GHz. 10KHz offset is shown below(92.5dBc/Hz) Phase noise at 10GHZ. 1KHz offset is shown below(82.3dBc/Hz) Maximum Output power at 18.5GHz measured with external power meter is 11.88dBm(well above the 8dBm spec) More than 12dBm max output at 16GHz: and more than 12.5dBm at 10GHz: In the 0dBm setting and all others below. The output power calibration is bang on. The picture below shows you that the internal 10dB step attenuator is working perfectly. Spectrum analyzer is on a slow sweep and I turn the generator output down and back up in 10dB steps. I have worked on lots of these signal generators and many of them have intermittently high phase noise. In the test below the spectrum analyzer is on max hold and was left for about 15 mins. You can see the max hold trace is only slightly above the standard trace. Any intermittently high phase noise would be very obvious. For auction is my HP 8175A that I bought a while back. I put power to it and it worked perfectly with a nice clear screen with writing on it. After about 3 or 4 minutes it lost power. I checked and found the fuse is blown. I'm not sure what might have caused it because I have no manual. At this point I'm offering it as a parts unit or a unit to be repaired. It has 5 pods on it and the unit itself has a very nice cabinet.
