Reel features maroon sideplates with chromed brass inside& outside rim guards, handle& star drag, and reel foot of course, with plates held apart by four(4) chromed brass pillars with wide open top for"thumbing" the spool of course. Also has the HD reel seat marked: 30-200" with twin square holes for the factory rod strap screws, plate, wing nuts(NOT included but easily obtained on-line) plus heavy duty, chromed spool, small parts, counter-balanced handle with green"swirl" plastic finger grip as well. This old school Squidder#140 Reel probably dates back into the 1960s era, and has already stood the test of time with flying colors.See Photos) Reel ... moremeasures about 5 3/4" across from left sideplate with chromed bearing cover& functioning"clicker" button across to the right sideplate on top of the chromed nut holding the handle& star drag on. After I purchased this reel from a collector in 2009 I had it serviced by the pros at Penn's Factory Service Dept. in Philadelphia and reel has been sitting in my closet ever since. I will supply winning bidder with copy of the Penn invoice/receipt for this service work. Reel was internally cleaned and properly lubricated by Penn. Has new drag washers, and is set to fish or become part of a collection. Reel features bright red side plates. Red plastic spool, and matching red colored torpedo knob on handle. Reel weighs 16 ounces, has a spool width of 1 5/8 inch, side plate diameter of 2 3/4 inch, gear ratio of 3 1/3 to 1, and holds 250 yards of 12 lb monofilament fishing ... moreline. REEL INFO: Squidder- The Penn Squidder reels have tournament grade casting performance and the rugged strength needed for hard fishing. Best of materials. Penn traditional workmanship make these reels unmatched among conventional reels. HISTORY: The 140 Squidder was the first of the Squidder-series created. And it's still manufactured today, albeit with new materials. The 1941 version of this reel featured a light weight plastic spool and a nickel-silver frame, and was also available ... moreas a left-handed model(confusingly, this left handed model was number 140L) In the late 80's the 140L was manufactured, featuring an aluminum spool, and the left handed model of this version became the 140L-LH. Penn 146 Squidder Jr. with Accurate Frame
Here is a nice clean used Penn 146 Squidder Jr. the narrow squidder. It has an accurate frame and an aluminum spool. There is some minor scratching on the chrome from normal use. There is no rod clamp. It spins free and the drag is smooth and the clicker is loud. It is loaded with 15 lb. green P-Line.

Penn Squidder 145 Brass Spool 29M-145 - Rare Midsize
Penn 145 Midsize Metal S quidder Spool This chrome plated brass spool is used. And has some corrosion, but is still in good working order. Includes a Penn spool box. With this spool you can easily create a midsize 145 size reel from a wide 140 reel, by simply purchasing a midsize base(part no. 30-66) and four midsize posts(part no. 37-160) These parts are still being made and are cheap and plentiful. The tricky part is finding the spool, which hasn't been made in decades. So, here is the spool. These were never made by Penn in aluminum, just plastic or chrome plated brass. I am also selling a plastic model that is in near perfect condition.

Hi. Offered here is one used Penn Squidder Reel. Ball bearing. Fishing line on reel. I think it is a bakelite handle. Made by Penn Fishing Tackle mfg. Philo. Pa. I am pretty sure this is a vintage reel. The chrome does have some pitting as you can see in the pictures. Reel has been stored in a box in a shed for some years. All the working parts move nicely. Not sure if this is for saltwater or fresh water fishing. I know little about fishing or equipment.
