Vintage Woman Full Dress Sewing ? Mannequin; Adjustable; Metal & Pressed Wood?
Up for bids. Is a vintage mannequin. It is a woman mannequin, made of metal( the dress part& the base plus the insides) and the top is like pressed wood? with a fabric overlay. I can't find any markings on it, except on the inside, is a square with a"2" in it, and someone has written"36" on the inside. There are lots of wingnuts for adjusting, but they are all rusty. I don't know if they will come loose or not- I haven't tried. The base is 18" across, with casters and kind of claw feet. The wheels do turn. Inside, there is a bolt to loosen to adjust the heighth. There is a round knob on top- this may tighten up and hold it all together, I'm not sure. As it stands, it is 61" tall. Across the hips, it is 14" wide. The last picture shows it fully folded down. It stands about 4 3/4" tall and still has the Schiaparelli New York label on the bottom, as well as lace trim, and PART of the signed tape measure across the mannequin's bodice. I have had this for a little over twenty years and purchased it from a shop in a little town on Lake Michigan. I would guess that it is at least from the 40's and maybe older. The form will adjust to just about any shape I would think any one would need to make clothes. It will adjust down to 37" tall if you wanted to work on a table and upto 65 1/2" if you wanted to stand up while working. The base is cast iron and will be wrapped seperately you will just need to screw it back on. The off white shirt was used by the dress maker and does have holes that you see in the picture. Grandma's, one-half(1/2) scale, dress or sewing form that could also be used as a display of an upper torso mannequin. This dress form or mannequin has a wood, removable top that I believe is walnut as the underneath is not painted as is the top. The top portion of the removeable wood is painted with what looks to be black lacquer, as this is the type of paint that was used years ago. The bust on this mannequin measures approximately 33" in diameter. As you will view in the photos provided, the bottom has a metal piece where it could be set on a stand with a pole. VINTAGE Retail/Sewing Composition Dress Form / Mannequin with Odd Metal Base
VINTAGE Very unusual retail dress form/ mannequin. We do not believe this was used for sewing. Only visuals. At first look. We thought this was paper mache’ as that is what it looks like. Upon 2 nd look. It appears to be a composition of some type on a rigid fabric covered base or silhouette. A separate metal section keeps the neck and arm areas at attention, so with this cover off, it looks like a robot of sorts. The base is a square one, non adjusting at 15” square and 8-9” tall. The shaft or pole that holds the top skeletal section and cover does adjust up or down some. Its at 63” tall now and it looks as if there may be a couple inched additional, and it goes shorter as well. However my arthritic hands cannot move the metal part at all, so if exact size height is necessary, this may not help you. If I stand right next to it we are about ... morethe same height at 5’ 3” The body part is 15-16“ across the shoulders and 33” 29” 37” The color presents in a pretty gold-bronze. The shell or form part is not perfect at all. But still works as designed. She has some noted wear at the one arm hole, a bit crushed and soft, but again still solid. One breast has a gash puncture-indent and she has composition flaking and loss over her cover. She sounds like she has a lot of issues. And well, she does…BUT she still works, retains that old school retail appearance and would make a wonderful display for an old dress or other show piece. I will ship this in 2 boxes as the base could damage the form in shipping. I have the larger of the 2 boxes estimated in the ebay window. Hi! Welcome! This auction is for: Vintage 1940's- Simplicity Miniature 12-1/2" Mannequin doll + Simplicity sewing book and 4 Simplicity patterns for the mannequin. All are inside the original box that has some shelf wear and age spots and does not have the cover part. The 12-1/2" composition/plastic Mannequin doll has some scratches on the surface. A crack on the left leg, the right hand has been fixed, the arms can be removed. Arms have rubber bands to keep them in place, There is a paint chip on the nose. The paint on head and face is very good condition. Stamped on back, Pat. Pend. N Y w/ circle around R. The mannequin is clean an still looks in very good condition. Fairloom Sears Dressmaker's Mannequin. Sold by Sears Roebuck and Co only. Cast Iron Knob on top that turns to expand the form; adjustable for height; with cast-iron 4 footed base. My mother's much-used dressmaker's mannequin is fully functional with no missing parts. However, there are a few holes in the fabric. Those that are noticeable can be seen in the photos. There is a white spot on the bust and a small hole beneath it. There is also a hole on each shoulder and a couple of other holes that are too small to see in the photos. In addition the Sears label has been ripped and is partially missing. I've used a low starting price to reflect the less-than-perfect condition. The mannequin is boxed and ready to ship. Use as-is for dress-making or disguise the holes with grey marker for display.
