Vintage Mod 1960's Decter Abstract Mannequin Form
This is a vintage 1960's era tripod base and waist topper form manufactured by Decter Mannikin Co. This form was part of the"Profile Images" collection. First introduced in 1969. This is a mannequin/ form for displaying accessories and it has a very mid-century modern sculptural look to it. It would be a great display item- I actually used it to hang coats off the"crown" waist piece. The Profile Images series from Decter was a modular collection of different mannequin components that could be purchased to create a complete full-body mannequin and you could purchase alternate accessories and different body parts so you could create any kind of display form. The base of this form could be used with another Decter torso because the waist part of the mannequin is removable- it twists off like a regular mannequin torso. ... moreThe form is made of fiberglass and as you can see. It has some age with paint flaking- I included of photo of the paint flaking on the"crown" shaped waist piece. The finish can easily be sanded and repainted and overall this form is in good structural condition. I'm selling this piece as is but again, with some sanding and a new coat of paint, this would be an amazing piece. As you can see. This head/hat/wig mold is in super excellent condition and has very little discoloring and no pinholes. It has stood up the test of time and was well taken care of by its only owner. It comes as is and seems to have a 22 imprinted on the back(the second number is blurry. So I am not entirely sure what it is) I measured with a tape measure, and it is about 22 inches around. VINTAGE Aesthetically attractive original authentic retail store millinery head. The head is structurally intact. With no cracks or chips to the form. The hair is authentic in style to the times and elaborately molded and curled, and the cosmetic coloration on the face is original. Though it is in excellent original condition. There is minor scuff/ rub to the molded hair in 2 small areas as shown. None of these are ugly or distracting. Color overall is excellent, and original. I do not know if this is pottery as we know it or a blend with some paper, like paper mache. The base is flat and rests w/o wobble and there is a hole or sleeve that is lined with the pottery as well. The finish feels like a matte porcelain to me. This is 14” tall. I note some very light surface soil. Dust or finger prints. Note the nose is with some spotty soil. I ... moredo not know how to clean this surface so I have only brushed it off with a dry baby hair brush.Again nothing at all ugly but I am not educated on the cleaning of this material. I see a few pock marks, like pottery pops. Note one as such under her lip. My assumption is this is a flaw from the manufacturing process, much like old glass has"straws" None of these distract in our eyes. This will be double boxed for shipping. Vintage Woman Mannequin Full Body NO Hands 5 1/2 Feet Tall
Here we have a woman mannequin. Found in an old Atlanta Department store she is 5 1/2 feet tall. She is missing her hands and does have some scratches and dirt on her. She has a chipped nose. There is the number 256 on the back of her head but I can't find any other names on her. A cool piece for display or a much needed piece for that haunted house. This mannequin is for pick-up only. She appears to be made of a paper pulp like material under the paint and plaster. She also seems a bit heavier than the standard fiberglass models. Gorgeous antique salesman sample dress form. It used to be that salesmen would carry these little forms to display miniature examples of their work so ladies could choose which dresses they wanted made for themselves. When I was in the museum of London. I was intrigued by the many examples of dressmakers' samples in the display cases. Vintage Art Deco ~ Store Mannequin Display Doll ~ 21" Tall ~ Compo? Nude w/ Bow Please see the photos of this unusual Store Display Mannequin Doll. She stands at around 21" tall and I believe is made of composition but it might be a plaster type material. She is more of a girl model than a lady as she has a blue hair bow and mary jane type shoes. not heels. These mannequin dolls were used a displays for clothing items in a smaller version back in the 1940's- 1950's. I believe she is from that time period. The girl stands at 21" tall. Her arms are removeable so that the clothing would fit over her and then the arms put back on. She has molded hair with the bangs pulled back into a molded hair bow. The bow is painted blue. The hair is painted a rust brown color. She does have some paint rubs and small chips on the hair ... moreand hairbow. She has a nicely painted face with light blue eyes and mauve lip paint. There is light wear and some dirty spots but no missing face paint. Her torso and legs are in pretty good shape. They are dirty and would need cleaning but I didn't want to attempt in fear of damaging the material. She has molded shoes that are painted black. Normally you see the mannequin dolls with high heels and pegs to hold to a stand. This one has on mary jane shoes with the strap across the foot. The bottoms are flat. although the heel of her right foot is lifted up like she's standing with just her toe on the ground. This is the way she is supposed to be. The biggest issue are the breaks/ cracks. She has had her head broken off at one time and was repaired by former owner. You can definitely see the repair and new paint as it's fairly messy(especially in the back) Both wrists have broken off and were reglued. The repair on the right wrist is starting to loosen as the hand moves. The left wrist has a new crack underneath the original one that was repaired that also needs fixing as it feels a little loose.
