This has a slight curve to it, I think from being rolled through the initial pressing procedure, as it lays perfectly flat laying on the floor or mounted. Overall, a scarce sign in pretty good shape. I assume this sign may have been for a counter display or on a wall in a Pharmacy, Drug Store or General Store. I think it was made to scare you into buying there product. Just the description alone makes me cringe. This is a small sign measuring approximately 9 inches by 6 and 1/2 inches. It is made of a thin wood and then covered with a sturdy type of green material that creates a wavy effect. Measures 19" x 14& 1/2" Sign has been in climate controlled display for decades. Colors are bright, surface is very shiny. Shows minor wear and age around the edges and a few minor blemishes. There are quite a few scratches but otherwise the sign is in good condition. The chain that has been added at the top to hang this is new. Rare US Biological Survey Wildlife Refuge Sign Pre 1930's
This is one of the rarest refuge signs I have ever come across. In 1905 the Division of Biological Survey became a bureau within the Department of Agriculture know as the U.S. Biological Survey so the sign could have been made anytime from 1905 to 1930. This great sign is made of heavy metal and instead of porcelain was painted with a thick coat of yellow paint. Most of this paint is in very good shape for as old as this sign is. This 100 year old sign is 18 1/2" tall.19 1/2" wide and weighs 3.5 lbs. There was no skimping on material back in those days. There is some pine pitch, a scrapes and scratches but as you can see from the photos it could use a good cleaning but it is a very cool sign.The other heavy porcelain signs in the first photo will be another listing. I put the four extra staples in to secure it a little better. But the masking tape was already there. The mirror is beveled. The silvering background shows major signs of age. Original metal advertising sign for Lemon Crush soda. Has"Robertson Steel" printed at bottom edge. This embossed sign measures 19-1/2 in. wide by 13-3/4 in. tall. There is some issues as the photo shows with wrinkles primarily around the edges. There is also a small area of metal missing top left. Otherwise in fair condition for a sign of this age.
