Up for auction is an Old Original Metal National Forest Land Sign mounted on an old Original Wooden Backboard. This old sign was mounted on this old wooden backboard but was never put up. The metal sign is 11 3/4" x 8 3/4" and the wooden backboard is 13" x 9 3/4" The George Washington National Forest doesn't exist anymore and is now the George Jefferson National Forest. Outstanding set of old roof top porcelain letters. Star IS included and is 16" Letters are 21" high and 4" deep. Minor scuffs and scratches with a few very tiny chips on the edges. Pictures should tell the story. Star must have been in more sun as it is a shade lighter than the letters. Star has small nick in center. I will charge $200 to pack and ship anywhere in the lower 48" but prefer pick up in Indianapolis. I can deliver for a fee to a 100 mile radius of Indy. MOUNTAIN DEW Bottle Sign UNUSUAL 3-D deisgn HUGE - 35 inches tall in great shape
I bought this DO THE DEW sign at an auction about 10 years ago. I'm not usually into newer signs. But this is the only one I've seen in any brand with the 3-D effect. The bottle sign itself is curved to be about 3 inches away from the wall when hung with two metal bars riveted to keep its shape. Both bars have holes pre-drilled to hang the sign. I've had it hanging in my basement since I bought it and it gets a lot of comments. The sign is just over 35 inches tall and 11 inches wide. It is in near prefect condition- it had a small bend in the bottom right corner which I was able to fix. It is hardly noticeable and does not take away from the sign's appeal. Vintage CHAPEL Metal Letters( sign) Off ering this rare. CHAPEL" sign, which is made up of six individual letters. It was mounted on the exterior of an establishment in the 1950's and w as just removed recently. The y're made from a dense cast metal and were painted black at some point. Easily stripped or repainted. They display even better in person and measure 12" long and 1 1/2" thick(not including screws. Which are removable) When the letters are spaced 1" apart, the the sign is appr oximately 58" long(give or take. Mentioned above, says that"In 1925 the directors decided to abandon general foundry and engineering work and concentrate on the manufacture of mill rolls. It seems that they stuck to this specialisation to the end of their days. A safe plate(shown under the link to safes, below) refers to the"successors"to Thomas Perry in West Bromwich. It seems likely that the safe making part of the company was sold off in 1925. Other non-roll making activities would also have been sold off or abandoned. The site today. Antique Oak Painted Union Chapel Christian Church Sign 1892 Redfield Iowa
This auction is for the original Union Chapel Christian Church sign which was located 4 miles west of Redfield. Iowa. A marker remains at the former location of this church today(see the last picture) The Church was demolished in 1962. Union Chapel Christian Church was formed in 1892 as is noted on this sign and additional information on the church, along with a picture of this actual sign, can be found in the Redfield, IA Quasquicentennial(125 year) town booklet which will be included with this sign. There are also excerpts in this booklet that relate to the history of this church. This sign is in absolute un-touched original condition. It is weathered oak with black(peeling) paint on a white(peeling) paint background. Most of the curved border trim is missing and has never been repaired. The sign is 43" in width, 26" in height(including ... morelower plate) and 2" in depth(1-1/2" on the sign portion without the trim) This is an amazing and beautiful decorative piece of american history and a sign that we have enjoyed in our home for some time. Shipping is expensive but must be due to the packaging and insurance that will need to be done to this piece. Additional History(source. Redfield, Iowa 1860-1985, Issued for the June 13,14& 15, 1985 Quasquicentennial(125 years) p.16& 17: In 1856 a schoolhouse was built about 4 miles West of Redfield. November 1859. 12 people gathered in this schoolhouse, organized and selected a place to build the first church. An acre of ground on Lot 15, Section 2 was acquired and a building 24x30 feet was erected in 1860. By this time members numbered 58 and services were held monthly with Sabbath School each Sunday. They adopted a creed and the name Christian Church on Middle Coon River. This name was changed to Union Chapel in 1872. On Sept. 5, 1892, a deed to one acre of ground, on Lot 10, Section 2, was given by E.B. Dickey and the new church was built four miles west of Redfield.
