Vintage Bakelite necklace with carved Asian man's face. I'm thinking most of the discs are butterscotch color. But maybe the middle one with the asian face on it is clearer-maybe apple juice. Passed the Simichrome test. Chain is faux tortoise plastic chain. Clasp was replaced with a lobster clasp. Measures 21" in length. Excellent condition. The red colour is a little bit lighter than that of the average dark cherry amber necklaces. And the beads are almost a little bit transluscent. Very good condition! It's strung on a red thread that appears to be silk(or similar) with knots between the beads next to the clasp. Weight about 56 grams. The biggest bead measures approximately 21 mm in diameter. And the smallest bead about 9 mm. The lenght of the necklace. Measured including the clasp, is about 49,5 cm. Tested positive with Simichrome Polish and gives off a strong bakelite smell when held under warm water. Up for sale is an Authentic Vintage Bakelite Egg Yolk Yellow Graduated Beaded Necklace. It is approximately 16" laid end to end with the biggest bead being about 3/4" around. 33 total beads with a screw clasp on the end. All beads are still in Very Good condition as is the string its strung on. No chips or damage to any of the beads. Only the typical slight color variations in the beads that only true bakelite has. As there is SO MUCH Fakelite out there I can assure you this is REAL Bakelite. No swirls or molding lines like you find on molded plastics. Vintage Deco Aqua Blue Color Bakelite Disk Bead Necklace
This auction is for a wonderful vintage Deco bakelite disk bead necklace. The color is aqua blue with lots of cloudy marbling and translucence. This is a very unusual color. The disks come in sizes. They are flat on the back and curved on the front. Larger disks are 1 3/16" in diameter and 1/4" thick. Smaller disks are 1" in diameter. Round spacer beads are also bakelite. They are 3/8" in diameter. The full lenght is 16" and comes with a bakelite screw style clasp which works fine. Excellent condition. With no chips or cracks. There are nicks along the edge of one of the clasp beads. This is not a problem as the clasp does screw in and out well. Cotton or silk string is in fine condition. This auction is for a great vintage Art Deco carved bakelite necklace. There are seven 3/4 inch diameter stepped and carved round orange beads; with six 3/4 inch intricately carved elongated brown flowers and leaves. There a metal caps on either side of the round beads and 1/4 inch industrial spun metal spacers. Very industrial machine age looking despite the great carving. The total length of the necklace is 16 1/2 inches. The screw type clasp is stamped Made in France. The necklace is strung on very fine chain. All in excellent condition. I was really excited when I came across this: the earrings are still on card and both earrings and necklace show no signs of use- so I'm listing it as new old stock(NOS) These necklaces were popular in the 1950s. When colorful jewelry was a new kind of thing, and they were made in Hong Kong, but usually, you see these tulip necklaces in white rather than pink, and rarely earrings and necklace together- so it's a really cool find. The material is a thermoplastic- I'm guessing cellulose acetate. The design imitates carved designs of earlier decades, but there are clear mold lines(see pictures) The necklace is about 39" long and there's no clasp- you just put it over your head- so you can wrap it around your neck twice. It's very handy that it doesn't have a clasp since then. You don't have to worry about the ... moreclasp shifting from your back. Each tulip bead is 5/8" long. Vintage 1950 West Germany Aqua Glass. Lucite Bead Necklace Set Up for sale is a vintage 1950's era. 3 strand necklace parure done in aqua and dark blue beads with polished gold tone enhancements. MARKINGS: The clasp on the necklace is marked Western Germany as well as the earrings. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This set is done in a an aqua and dark blue bead design that us a mixture of both glass and lucite beads. All are enhanced with gold bead caps and enhancements. It is a three strand and it measures 14 1/2" on the shortest strand and the longest strand measures 17 3/4" It has a hook style clasp with a 2 3/8" beaded extension. The necklace weighs in at 2.3 ounces or 66 grams. The smallest beads measure 7.25mm and 15mm on the largest.
