Vintage Seth Thomas Mantle Clock 2 Pillars 2 Lions with rings
Up for your consideration is a vintage Seth Thomas Mantle Clock. I have no key. It came with some small metal piece that you can see in the first photo at the base of the clock. I don't know what that goes to. It has 2 pillars(one on each side of the face) And a lion head on each side with a ring in the mouth. It has very oranate feet. There is no glass face plate. The face of the clock is stained. There are some chips in the wood on all sides with some scratches and dings. This is an old clock. There was a safety pin in the back on one of the wheels. When we removed it. The hands started going clockwise quickly for a good solid 2 minutes. Then they stopped. The safety pin has not been put back in. I'm not a clock expert. I don't know what's wrong with it. I don't know if it is complete or missing parts. I don't know ... moreif it can be fixed again. To be on the safe side, lets say it can't. VINTAGE GRENOBLE OR JAPANESE LILLY PATTERN TRIPLE SILVER PLATE NAPKIN RINGS
I bought these 5 plus 1 Napkin Rings years ago and it wasn't until I went to my reference books that I found out about their pedigree! William A. Rogers first produced this pattern called"Grenoble" in 1905-1906. The pattern was also marketed as"The Japanese Lilly" by the Boston. MA of McLean, Black and Co. Inc. Japanese Lilly was made for them by William A. Rogers. They were made with"Extra Heavy A-1 Plate" according to their advertisments. These appear to have been hand made out of forks or spoons using this pattern. The welding was done by a real Craftsman or a Jeweler. There are only 5 with the Grenoble Pattern. The 6th one is a pattern that I cannot identify. I have been using these for over 25 years and I never noticed that they were not all the same! check out the last photo for the different one. I am selling them as silverplate but they could possibly be sterling silver. They normally marked their sterling so that's why I'm going with silverplate. Actually they also usually marked their silverplate as well. I purchased these from an estate sale and was told they had been a wedding present to someone in the family. They are around 1900- 1910. They are quite tarnished. It looks like someone started to polish them and then quit. I doubt they were ever used. These would make a lovely wedding present to someone who appreciates age and beauty.
