Untitled Document I work on a lot of solid state gear so for some reason I am always surprised and impressed by how good high quality tube gear sounds when I put it on the bench and this Scott 222D is a really good piece. There is a reason this unit is so desirable. I have completely gone through this and it is functioning perfectly. I replaced the original electrolytic capacitors in one of the big cans(the other two were well within specs) with new ones but I left the can in place to preserve the look. I have gone through and checked the specifications of all the other components and they are well within specifications. All of the tubes have been checked and they are all very good. Of the four 12AX7s three are Telefunken as is the 5AR4 and one is made in Holland. Also included are the original 12AX7 tube shields. Vintage Marantz 8B Tube Stereo Power Amplifier. I removed the tubes and brought this unit up on a variac over a period of 24 hours. Tubes were placed back in their original order. An Adcom tuner/preamplifier and a set of Snell floor standing speakers were then attached to the 8b. Before use I checked the bias and all four tubes or bias settings were on the optimum line of the meter. Both left and right channels have equal. Powerful output. EL34 Power tubes state"made in Germany" but there is no visible brand markings. Smaller tubes are vintage US branded. Flaws on this unit: One of the four plastic bakelite covers is missing from its bias adjustment screw, The"Marantz" placard or name plate is missing from the front of the unit, there is some oxidation where the label was originally glued on(Both of these items are available ... moreon ebay auctions or websites. I have for sale a single ended 15 watt stereo tube amp. It uses all new components and new tubes except for the vintage 6CG7 preamp tubes. The transformers are all custom American made. The circuit uses a pair of 6CG7 preamp tubes run in parallel to increase output and decrease output impedance. The GZ34 rectifier and 6550 power tubes are new JJ's. The output transformers are 6 ohm and will work with either 4 or 8 ohm speakers. The plinth is solid walnut and the chassis is 1/8" thick aluminum. There are three push style terminals on the back. Note: Had to relist due to non payment! For sale is a Dynakit ST-70(Dynaco Inc. ST-70 factory wired) EL34 tube based amplifier in good condition. That works as it should and that holds a steady bias. I replaced the selenium rectifier, the power switch and put new feet on it and had all the other points professionally checked and they are within spec so, nothing else needed replaced. A lot of people change out this and that hoping for significant improvements and to each is own but, I only changed out what was necessary to get the amplifier up to proper working condition. The EL34 power tubes are Siemens RFT and all test within close tests, the 5AR4 rectifier is the original Dynaco labeled Mullard(4 notch) f32 series that tests 50/50 and the 7199 are both RCA black plates that are NOS. Up for sale is my audiophile quality Jolida JD502B that has been professionally upgraded by Hot Rod Audio Mods in Smyrna GA. The amp was upgraded to a"Reference Level Plus" which includes higher quality caps and power supply as well as the superb KT88 tubes. The KT88s have a huge punch in this amp(70w/ch) And the circuit changes open the highs for a clear, detailed top end to compliment the formidable bass power from the KT88s. This amp is in 9/10 condition with only a couple of very minor scuffs on the faceplate that I never noticed and I couldn't see until I inspected it with a flashlight for marks before I posted this ad. The December 1958 issue of Audio Magazine has a complete article titled'Sound Recording and Reinforcing at the Monterey Jazz Festival' It goes in depth about how Ampex was tapped to set up the very best sound system for this event. Antique vintage Sonatina Shortwave Tube Radio from Poland
This radio is from Poland and has a European type power connector. It was designed to work from 220VAC power. I tried to check it by applying the maximum output from by Variac(about 160VAC) My wattmeter indicated zero and the tubes did not appear to light. This radio may have other problems of which I am not aware. The speaker grill work appears nice. The radio was probably manufactured some time from the late forty's to the late fifty's.This radio is sold AS IS. No returns for any reason. Found in their original home made cabinets. I will offer the cabinets if you pick them up only. The cabinets remind me of my C36 JBL cabinets. The vintage grilles are also very similar to Altec and JBL tolex fabric. These were found with a AA-151 Heathkit amp. And date to 1963. They play good. And look very nice. Paper labels on the back of the speakers are still present. I also have the original 4 page instructions from Heathkit. Sansui 1000A- Powerful Monster! As you can see by the pics. The tuner glass has been broken. I picked this up from Electric City in Denver, along with some other electronics. Unfortunately, the way they were arranged for transport, placed another protruding knob right near the glass, and it was broken. I have the pieces if that matters to anyone. If you win, let me know if you want the remaining glass pieces shipped. Please be aware that this unit has been fully serviced and is in excellent working condition. I had the tubes checked. Pot's cleaned, lights replaced, and an overall inspection, function test and delicate cleaning completed. This monster is incredibly powerful, and sounds amazingly clean. There is some surface rust on top of the steel cabinet, which can bee seen in the pics. Also, a slight corner bend in the cabinet near ... morethe back. The stainless front, knobs, and trim are perfect. I have taken the most important pics I could think of. Mostly of the intricate wiring and overall layout of tubes, etc. One of the large rubber feet was missing when I found this gem, but I replaced them with slightly shorter feet with felt bottoms. Three canned chokes from 1950's avionic gear. These are heavy and very rugged chokes. Meant to be mounted to a chassis. I used a handheld inductance meter to read these. One is 3 H. One is 6 H between pins. 100 mh from the third pin to chassis. The third is 14mh between pins. The three are close to a pound. Potted in the cans. Manufacturer was ARC.
