Vintage 1 - 2 Watt Tube Guitar Amp - Japan - Excellent Sound and Condition
Really nice looking and great sounding vintage low watt tube amp from Japan. I am unsure of the year. But it looks like a 70s. The only marking is a"JAPAN" tag on the cabinet bottom. The cabinet fabric and wood is excellent. There is a minor discoloration on the middle left right of the grill cloth and a few minor tolex issues but overall a very good looking, solid amp. Please take a look at the pictures to see how good it looks. The electronics needed some attention. The photo may show a"Ten" make 35W4 tube, but when I tested the tubes, that one was weak so I replaced it with a vintage NOS Sylvania. The volume and tone potentiometers were not working well, so I replaced them with new, modern 500K pots and resoldered a couple wires that needed it. Now this thing plays great. It has very low hum even at max volume. The ... moresound is nice and clean and it will break up at upper volume, but it does not get all raspy. Country, blues, jazz or rock sounding- NOT metal unless a pedal is used. The 8" Jensen speaker is a newer replacement. I have sold many guitars. Mint Condition: The Hexagraph" 4/5 wt. 2 piece, 9' Graphite Rod. No Reserve. I bought this from Mr. Briscoe(very nice fellow) at Hexagraph in 2005 after deciding I really couldn't afford the cash for a nice bamboo rod. New Winstons were about $2300) Having read Gierach and other great casters extole the virtues of casting with bamboo(especially dries) I thought I'd give it a try. It IS a"different" casting experience. And once I slowed down my typical fast-graphite casting stroke and let the Hex load and unload I was amazed at how easy and accurate it was to cast. Especially for repetitive casts(without having to false cast) I'm not a really experienced caster. But a guide took the one shot-with a single haul it can can cast a pretty tight loop and isn't bad in a light to moderate breeze. Then again. It's ... moreprimary design is for ease, accuracy and quiet delivery) The rod will load as far down as you'd like. Depending upon the back cast, and the transition from kinetic to potential energy is amazing going back; hence the lack of need for a false casts in between when covering water or search casting. And it roll casts like a bear) As the rod does most of the work. I'd say it is less fatiguing per hour to fish than most faster modern designs I had. While it's sometimes snubbed as"near bamboo" by some. I'd say it's the most underrated rod I"ve ever purchased and regret to sell it. It is the most fun I've ever had fishing dry flies. 1972 Fender Pro Reverb 2 x 12 40W tube amp
A 1972 Fender Pro Reverb tube amp in very good condition. 2 x 12 speakers. Tube recitified, 40 watts. I put up page with 37 large photos and a video of the amp operating as expected. I've tried to photograph it candidly. Warts and all, to show less wear than one would expect for an amp of this age. The amp was made prior to Fender adding a master volume control. Purchased at in San Antonio in 1995. Serial Number A15689. It's stamped 1972 on the circuit chassis. Manufactured at Fender's Fullerton. CA plant. The amp sounds great. The pots are clean. Every plug works, and the reverb tank and vibrato do what they should. The original foot pedal has a frayed wire that prevents the reverb tank and vibrato from being switched off. That's obviously super easy to fix and something you would have probably considered doing anyway. In ... moreany event, it doesn't really matter- you can't tell the vibrato's on if you turn the intensity down all the way. I replaced the original power cable with a 10' heavy duty grounded cable. That 40 year old power cable was just dangerous. It's got the original Utah Electronics custom speakers. Which sound great and show no obvious signs of wear after all these years. It got matched 6L6 rectifier tubes and caps about 15 years ago from. In other words. It's all original down to the tilt legs and casters.

Please note. I am no stranger to electronics, but I know almost nothing about musical instruments or guitars. Also, tubes are not my expertise. If I'spout off' about something and I sound ignorant. It is because I am! the bad: The screws that hold the rear cover on are missing. I could just blast some in there but this is an antique and I'd rather not. The Chrome Bezel around the controls has some pitting and scratching. Some of the'volume' lettering is worn off as well. There are a couple of'digs' or tears in the covering of the enclosure. 1962 Fender Brownface Bassman head Vintage Tube Amplifier Modded
This is a 1962 Fender Bassman head. It is in a newer cabinet. Which has the clamps on the bottom to mount it to a Bassman or perhaps another Fender cabinet. A transformer has been replaced; it's the big silver one in the picture. The amp was modded by Roccaforte amps, according to the guy I bought it from. Thus, one of the tubes is not hooked up. The idea of the mod was to make it break up faster. I can't really tell that it is breaking up faster. I had one of these 20 years ago and this one sounds pretty much the same. It is loud with lots of bottom and has nice treble control via the treble and presence controls. It is a versatile, warm sounding amp. I've found it to be great for jazz with the controls set right. It will bring out the sound of an archtop nicely. I also hook it up to my Rivera Power Soak and turn it on 8 a lot; ... moreit really sings nicely there and gets that crunch like Pete Townshend did with the Who. Without the power soak, it is too loud for me to turn on eight. The precense control is a chicken head knob and the back has a metal screen on it; it is all very functional. As you can see from the pictures, the covering and tolex are beat up but it is solid. This is a player, not a collector's piece. The amp works great. I've had no problems with it in the near year that I've owned it. Please ask questions beforehand, as there are not returns. Sales to lower 48 US states only. I only take Paypal. 1940s Supro Tube amp original Woodie Cute just serviced! This is an early 40s Supro tube guitar amp. Which I recently purchased from the original owner(it was given to her when she was a child, taking lap steel lessons, before WW2) Condition is pretty amazing considering the age. Some minor scratches in the wood, the upper panel on the back has separated slightly on one side(easy job to glue back in place or ignore it) leather handle looks great, no tears in the grille cloth(which looks a lot like the radio grilles of the era) Just had a couple of dried-out capacitors replaced and you can see those in one of the pics(I didn't take it apart again since it's been serviced) Original field coil speaker is 8" Old tubes but they work, and the original speaker is also working(BUT if you're planning to crank this up to 10 with your ... moreoverdrive pedal in front of it, no guarantees on how long the paper cone will last! Here is a one of a kind guitar amp. Super cool look. Classic american sound. 12-15 watts. all tube(2) rca(conn labeled) 6v6. 1) rca 6au6, 1) zenith 5y3, 1) Sylvania 12au7, 1) tungsol 12ay7. the amp chassis was from an old motorola record player from what i was told by paul at marcara amps. Anyway, The transformer are hi fi transformers and they are huge for a chassis this size. you can sub 12ax7's for the 12's that are in there for much more dirt and volume. the amp is loud enough to easily push a 4-12 cab and play with a drummer if they aren't a basher. this amp does beautiful classic american tones. I bought the chassis and mounted it in this late 1940's toolbox. i wired up a pilot light and it just looks super cool. had a couple couple resistors changed by marcara amps in tarry town. robert hudson of blues pearl fame helped ... moreme wire the pilot light through emails. the amp works great and is simple. vol. treb. bass. the chassis originally was wired up by paul at dst amps.
