This auction is for a unique handmade Navajo sterling silver necklace and clip earring set with gold plating. The necklace measures 22" long and has a hook and round eye closure. The whole necklace is strung on fine. Flexible wire. Picture 2 shows some of the flexibility of this piece. It has 5 oval discs. Four of the oval discs are the same size- alittle over 1" wide x 1 1/2" top to bottom. The large center oval disc is 1 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" top to bottom. The clip earrings are the same size as the 4 smaller oval discs on the necklace- 1" wide x 1 1/2" top to bottom. Each disc has a ring of shiny, smooth silver on the outside rim of ... morethe disc. The inside is brushed silver with shiny and raised design in the center. The southwestern pottery in each disc design has 14k gold plating(Please see pictures 2& 4) The large necklace disc and one of the earrings is marked with the word sterling and the artist's initials(Please see picture 3) V M T. It is a gold plated fouled anchor with Silver Block letters"USN" superimposed on the anchor's shank. It might date to WWII era. The back is marked"Sterling" and"Vanguard N.Y. It is in used vintage condition. With tarnish and some plate loss. Otherwise intact and the pin/C-clasp works smoothly. I have not cleaned or polished this.
