EMERSON MODEL CQ286 CIRCA 1938-39 This is the Emerson CQ286 housed in a beautiful Ingraham cabinet. All paper and electrolytic capacitors have been renewed. The cabinet has been refinished with a hand rubbed gloss finish. It receives stations loud and clear on the AM and SW bands using just the short attached antenna but better reception is possible with the longer antenna wire included. The big 8"speaker. In excellent condition as seen, fills the room with deep base tones. The knobs are Emerson"gum drop" originals. The dial cover is a new. Crystal clear reproduction. The chassis is clean and has a new AC cord. It is 16" Wide X 8-1/2" Deep X 10" High and weighs approximately 15 lbs. The tubes: 6K8GT. 6K7GT, 6SQ7GT, 6AE5GT, 25AC5GT and a 25Z6GT rectifier. 1941 EMERSON model 8CW-334-2 IVORY PLASKON TUBE RADIO- WORKS! Here is an Emerson 1941 radio. Model 8CW-334-2. When turned on it works fine without any buzz nor hum although stations are stronger when you touch the loop antenna with your fingers adding your body to the pickup. I have done nothing to clean nor prettify this radio except to check and replace the 35Z5 and 12SA7 from my stash of old tubes in my barn because they both had burned out filiments. I cleaned off a circle on the top of the cabinet to see if it'd clean up. And it seemed to take up the grime quite well. I'll let the collectors do the restoration. The dial cord needs to be replaced as well as the power cord. The original dial needle is broken off, but I'll include a needle from another radio that could be used if desired. A RARE PICKLE BOTTLE - GEO. R. EMERSON, WEST SOMERVILLE - BLOWN AT THE L.G.CO.
Here is another rare bottle that was manufactured at the Lyndeborough Glass Company in New Hampshire. I believe it to be a pickle bottle as it is very similar to the Bunker Hill Pickle bottles. I have only seen one other and that was exactly the same only a larger size. It was blown from a nice shade of aqua blue glass with numerous bubbles and a great orange peel texture. The height is 5 1/4" and it is a bit over 2 1/8" in diameter. It has a very simple neck formed by tooling the neck. The base is flat for the first 3/8" then it falls into a sunken dome. The front of the bottle is embossed in a circular pattern that reads; GEO R EMERSON around the top. And WEST SOMERVILLE around the lower half. This refers to a town in Massachusetts. In the center of the circle is an embossed tower with a door and a window in it. The tower ... morelooks like a rocket ship although others have said that it resembles something else. I don't know if such a tower actually existed in West Somerville or if it was a rip-off of the monument on the Bunker Hill bottle. There is a small, onion skin type, open bubble and a tiny bit of wispy haze, otherwise it is in perfect condition. This is a super scarce bottle that will enhance any collection. Restored Antique Emerson Fan RARE Safety Cage
For bid is a beautiful antique Emerson 29646 electric fan. Although the blades are not brass. The safety cage gives this fan so much character that it is one of my favorite fans. The body of the fan has been cleaned up, primed, painted, sanded, and waxed to give it a great high gloss finish. The safety cage, which I believe is crafted steel, has been cleaned up and painted black and gold to give the overall fan a high quality look. I do not know much about the origins of the safety cage. I have seen a very small handful of fans that have them(maybe 2 or 3) and I do not know if it was an optional accessory or was manufactured some time later and simply placed on the fan. If anyone reading this has any information please contact me, I would love to know more! Almost everything on the fan is original. The nuts and cap nuts on the front plate ... morehave been replaced a new cord and plug have been added. Its dimensions are about 14" wide. 18" tall, and the blades measure just over 12" The fan has been lubricated and runs smooth and fast. Check out the video below to see a video of the fan running. Please refer to the images provided to see the quality of the fan. I am still a rookie restorer so there will be some imperfections here and there. Helen Wallenda GREAT WALLENDAS Ringling Bros1944 Fire. Signed Check to Emerson! Up for auction is a most unusual find. I recently bought a very large collection of circus ephemera. Today. I came across this personally signed check from Helen Wallenda of Sarasota, Florida, to one"Ralph Emerson" After doing an internet search, I learned that Ralph Emerson was the photographer of most of the surviving photographs of the great Ringling Brothers& Barnum and Bailey Circus fire in Hartford, Connecticutt in July, 1944. Helen Wallenda was the wife of Karl Wallenda, and one of the four original"Great Wallenda" circus performers. The Great Wallendas were performing in Hartford, Connecticut when this terrible fire broke out! Many lives were lost in this tragic fire. I don't know any background about Ralph Emerson, who made ... moremost of the surviving photographs of this tragedy. This check to Emerson was signed by Helen Wallenda on June 2, 1966. I have no idea why. Perhaps someone closer to this tragedy knows more about this. Was she giving a contribution to the photographer Emerson some 22 years later? In any event, Wallenda's address was in Sarasota, Florida. Curiously, this personal check was not canceled, perhaps Mr. Emerson chose not to deposit? The check is in over all very good to excellent condition. Please email any questions you might have.
