This has the traditional red/green stripe and the interlocking Gucci logo on the sturdy fabric cover. It measures about 10-inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide, and is a full 18-inches wide when open. Antique Diamond Set Sterling Silver & Leather Portable Folder Desk Blotter 1925
Superb Antique Sterling Silver Mounted Leather Wallet by Barrett& Thompson of Birmingham dated 1919 This Antique Portable Folder& Desk Top Ink Blotter measures approximately 11 3/8 inches or 289 mm across its length from side to side by 8 1/2 inches or 217 mm across its width from the spine to the front edge. It is 1/2 of an inch or 13 mm deep from back to front when closed and it is just over 17 1/4 inches or 440 mm across its total width from side to side when it's laid fully open. The folder is made from a stitched dark brown leather outer body in a book like shape with solid sterling silver corner mounts and on the front there is a solid sterling silver oval shape cartouche with the letter or initial N that has been set with three old rose cut round diamonds. The folder opens to reveal three compartments within the left side ... morealong with a brown watermark silk panel that opens like a book page to reveal the internal desk top ink blotter, this then closes to reveal a brown watermark silk lined rear panel and another brown leather paper compartment within the right side of the folder, the portable paper folder and desk top ink blotter has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and each of the silver corner mounts on the front have been impressed with matching English solid sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, P.S& Co- Lion Passant- Leopard Head- stylized k P.S& Co is the Birmingham jeweler or makers mark of Paul Sharp& Co whose mark is recorded as being used from 1915. The Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard solid sterling silver, the Leopard Head is the mark of the London assay office and the stylized letter k is the assay office date letter for 1925. No dry areas or pre-dry areas. Leather is alive and perfectly flexible. Amazing condition for this type of product which is probably 40 years old. Weight: Briefcase is very lightweight. Only 3.5 lbs. Folder is 1.5 lbs& 4 oz or 28 oz. Condition: Briefcase is in excellent and clean condition. The corrners are like new. Looks like very slightly used with very minimal handling wear. Inside is also very clean without any stains. Both locks in perfect working condition set to 000. To reset: Open the lock and then ... moremove the switch to oposite side. Iy'll stay there until you choose new numbers. Once finished simply close the lock as you lock the briefcase. It's set. The locks have no scratches but slightly faded with dirty layer. I don't want to clean it not to damage surounding leather. Must be gold plated and metal surface is not damaged. By scratching it I can see shine surface underneath. Outside all genuine leather. Inside orange velour type of fabric. Folder has some pressed dot type and line damages but leather is not damaged or cut. It is a result from something heavy placed on it for prolonged period of time. Might partially recupirate with use. It is on the top only. The bottom has no such damages. Also it has some kind of handling wear or maybe just due to age. The corrners are like new and it looks this item has not been used much as well. Outside is all genuine leather. Inside partially orange velour type of fabric and some side slot linings are kind of suede like fabric. Has one snap closure located on flap top. Inside is also very clean without any stains. Excellent piece of advertising memorabilia from The Prudential Insurance Co. Leather bound tri fold document keeper with a couple miscellaneous income statements from mid 1920's and a Christmas card from the officers and directors of the company in 1925.
