Next up for auction is an Original Tiffany Studios Etched Metal and Glass Letter Rack in the Grapevine Pattern. This very useful desk item is in very good to excellent condition. It has a wonderful brown/reddish patina finish with only slight handling wear. Please see photos. Photo# 6 shows this minor wear. The green stirated slag glass is perfect, no cracks nor chips. The grapevine metal work as well as the beading around the letter rack are wonderful examples of Tiffany`s workmanship and also in grat condition. The ink well- pen tray measures 12-1/4" by 6-1/8" It is a 5/8" thick green marble slab with a hollowed pen trough. Mounted brass holders for two matching octagonal glass ink wells with brass covers. The glass inkwells have some chips to the corners, which is expected in an item of this age. I have tried to photograph the worst of these. The brass has a patina commensurate with its age. The base is raised up on four openwork legs with lovely floral decoration. The piece has a great construction with three pots that unscrew from the base. One of the pots has a pierced lid to hold quills or pens. Everything is completely original. The galley. The pots, and the lids are all engraved with a matching reticulated design accented with beaded trim. The desk set is engraved with the presentation: Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club, Special Race, Long Island Sound, 17th June 1930, Won by Weetamoe, Presented by W.A.W. Stewart. Although the presentation was added around 1930, the piece itself is much earlier. It was almost certainly made ... morein the mid 1800s between 1840 and 1870. It was certainly not made any later than 1885. The two lids are marked with the mark for the city of Darmstadt. In addition. The lids, the base, and the pots are all marked with the old assay test mark. We cannot find a makers mark or any other hallmarks. We guarantee the piece to be at least 800 purity silver. The condition is excellent. Really remarkable. The center lid is probably missing, but the set is still quite useable. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. On a 10" x 5" white marble base is a chrome 1951-52 Hudson potmetal model(5" x 2" which is about 1/43 scale) with a chrome perpetual calendar and a pen holder& Sheaffer ballpoint pen. 1920 SILVER & EBONY WOOD TRAY DRESSING TABLE DESK VANITY SET WOODEN ANTIQUE BOX
Ebony wood dressing table or desk tray with silver embellished compartment lids. Measures 13 x 8 inches. Stamped'REAL EBONY' to the base. Both lids have vacant cartouches and hallmarked London 1920, makers mark H F Daltrey& Co. the engravings are very clear, not at all rubbed and the hallmarks distinct. The ebony is in near perfect condition; there is a nick to the corner of one lid(see photo) a 1.5 inch hairline crack to one side of the base and a small rough mark to the inside, none of which are at all noticeable but I like to be meticulous. It has a very high polish. It is one of a matching pair I have, the other is in perfect condition and the lids bear the initial'H' the winning bidder may have the second for the sale price, or the lids can be swapped at no charge. It has a wonderful brown/green patina finish that has aged well over the years. The zodiac design isn`t as pronounced as I would hope for but it is very distinguishable with nice lines. Up for auction and for your consideration is an Original Pair of Tiffany Studios Bronze Bookends in the Zodiac Pattern. This beautiful pair of bookends are in excellent to near mint condition front to back. The brown/green verdgris patina is absolutely outstanding. The green highlights throughout them are wonderful. The Zodiac design on each bookend is superb. Very crisp and clean features and well pronounced. They both are properly signed Tiffany Studios, New York, 1091.
