Vintage four Sheaffer ink and pencil pens and one Eversharp pencil
I found these four vintage Sheaffer pens and pencils and one Eversharp pencil at a local estate sale run by the family. I'm not a vintage ink pen and pencil collector so I decided to pass them along to someone wanting them. And as an long-time eBay member. I'm primarily a buyer and rarely a seller so forgive the photos. I did my best. Here's what I was able to read on the pens. First, the four Sheaffer's consist of a 5 1/4" long man's set and a companion 4" long woman's set. From what I can tell they are a white dot, brown striated pattern. Here's the copy on man's fountain pen. Nib: SHEAFFER'S, LIFETIME, REG.U.S. PAT. OFF. MADE IN U.S.A. 14K. Nothing on front of cap clip but around bottom of cap it reads: 14K gold filled, Made in U.S.A. The horizontal copy along the barrel reads: W.A.SHEAFFER ... morePEN CO. FORT MADISON, IOWA, U.S.A. PATENTED IN U.S.A. The nib appears to be in excellent shape. Each of the four Sheaffer pens is personalized with the name(Man's is Geo W. Curry) while woman's is(M. Curry) Not sure about the all metal caps on man's pen and pencil but best guess it was custom ordered at the time the pens were purchased and personalized. Copy on the man's mechanical pencil reads: Top of barrel: SHEAFFER'S, MADE IN U.S.A. PAT'D IN U.S.A. 600. Bottom edge of metal cap reads: 14K GOLD FILLED, MADE IN U.S.A. The companion woman's fountain pen(which actually measures 4 1/2" reads: Nib: Same as on man's pen above) Horizontal along the barrel: Same as on man's pen above) NOTE: The woman's set has caps made of same material as the bottoms. The 4" woman's pencil is engraved with"M. Curry" on the metal band in the middle(same with fountain pen) and the top or cap of the pencil is engraved with the copy: SHEAFFER'S, MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. Noodler’s Fountain Pen Ink, Used Kung Te-Cheng with 2 pens
Up for auction is a 4.5 ounce bottle of Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng ink that has been used with most of the ink remaining. The ink level is about 1/16 inch below the top of the bottle label. So most of the original 4.5 ounces remains, at least 4 ounces. Kung Te-Cheng is a specialty ink from Noodler's Ink Company and reproduces an ancient ink formulated for the Chinese emperor's use. This dark blue/purple colored ink is extremely visible and is waterproof and bulletproof(Noodler's term for fraud resistant inks) Withstands solvents, bleaches, UV exposure and other tools of check forgers. Included with the ink are two Platinum Preppy pens that came with the ink when I bought it, one a fountain pen and one a felt tip marker. Both pens are eyedropper pens, that is you fill the entire barrel using the bottle's eyedropper and the ... moreink lasts for a very long time. I used them for a while but have cleaned out all of the residual ink from both pens and their nibs and feeds. A new felt tip has been put in the marking pen. The ink has stained the clear acrylic barrels of both pens as you can see in the photos. Great ink, a new bottle sells for $27.50 plus shipping from on-line sellers, so you are getting a bargain in this auction. Noodler's recommends that this ink be used only in the two pens provided, but I have heard of it being used successfully in other fountain pens and of course can be used in calligraphy pens and brush pens too. Care is needed to prevent clogging, such as not letting the pen sit for several days without being used(just remove the ink and rinse it out before letting it sit for several days) Some watercolor artists use these bulletproof inks in their artwork as they can over brush the dried ink with water colors without making the ink run. I would recommend reading the reviews for this ink at Goulet Pen Co.s website to get an understanding about using this special ink. Please ask me any questions.
