This is a vintage Sengbusch Self-Closing Inkstand from Milwaukee Wis. There are Patent dates of April 21. 1903, Aug. 23, 1904, and Jan. 15, 1907. The base is glass and the top is a type of metal. Up for auction is a lot of 5 fountain pens and two mechanical pencils. All seem to be in good mechanical order. One pencil pushes lead out. The black one just seems to push a thin piece of metal. I'm guessing it would push lead if I had some to load it with. I received two lots from estates. And decided to combine them into this one auction. The first lot comprised the waterman Silver ray, the green striped one Webster nib, the colorful mechanical pencil, the green Arnold and the whitish wearever. The lot from the second estate is the less than perfect black pencil with gold filled knob.replaced clip) and the large schaeffer. I don't service fountain pens myself so I don't know much about them. I will run down the list to the best of my abilities. First estate Lot: Waterman Silver Ray InkVue: Looks in great shape with Red Keyhole ... morenib(pictured above) Rear end comes off and screws on securely. Cap screws on ok sometimes but seems loosish others. Something was on the buttcap but that is now lost to history. Green agate Webster: The black cap comes off the back and reveals a small silver button. no writing that I can see on the sides. But it is pretty. nib says"Webster 14 k" Cap screws on and locks tight. white celloid wearever pen: Both the pull thingie and the cap clip seem worn. nib says 14k pat'd. Front piece pulls out to expose the crumbled remains of an ink sack. Top screws on tight. Arnold pen: No defects that I can see. Working spring action on lever. Parkette Pencil: Okay overall. Works. Someone chewed on the back end, and the plating is a bit meh on the clip. Second estate lot: Large W A Scheaffer Pen Co: Has a heart shaped nib with"Schaeffer's lifetime" on it. Dents or breaks on the bodies; all exterior surfaces appear to be in very good condition with the exception of one black tip which has some dings. Both Ballpoint pens have a polished chrome finish. The mechanics of one pen worked until I dismantled it so I’m assuming I put it back together incorrectly. They both have working ink cartridges one blue and one black. This is a lovely Rotring College set which consists of a 25. 35, and 50 sized pens, a propelling pencil, eraser pencil leads and ink cartridge filler. Cosmetically the set looks fine but it has not been used for ages and needs a complete clean and overhaul. All the points and refillable cartridges are in the pens and the ink filler is present. The original eraser is also present and is in a used condition. Also the original pencil leads are present in the original case. Full instructions for cleaning the pens are also in the case. The case is fabulous and comes with a scaled templated clear plastic lid. With a good clean and overhaul this set should be perfect.
