This is a vintage metal 9.75" x 5.5" clipboard with sliding perpetual calendar by Remembrance. B&B, St. Paul, Minn. USA. It was an advertisement for a business, but the lettering is nearly completely worn off. I can make out"WEST" and I believe it was from Topeka, Kansas. Date guides printed on the clipboard are very clear and give starting days for each month from 1955-1959. 2014 is the same as the dates for 1958! Some of the numbers on the calendar are worn and have been re-written. There is worn green felt on the back. Slide on calendar and clip on the clipboard work well. See photos. Sorry. This charming spotted maple arch file is embossed. Yawman& Erbe Mfg. Co. Rochester. N.Y. Shannon's; Pat. July'29'79 Piece measures 14 1/2 x 9 1/4. I believe this dates to the mid 1879's to early 1900s. The top of the loops swing out to receive the papers that you want the file to hold. This one has an added feature in that the loops are spring loaded and return to the closed position as soon as you push them shut. ABOUT SHANNON ARCH FILES: Shannon Arch Files were attached to boards and, alternatively, they were attached inside flat file drawers in letter filing cabinets. Unattached Shannon Arch Files do not seem to have been marketed, so the unattached ones that one now sees may have been removed from file drawers. Shannon Arch Files were patented in 1879.
