T his cheerful celluloid clown is a vintage toy. He has a metal post on the left side of his body where a separate key fits. When he's wound up. His arms pivot backwards and he does a full somersault. He's jointed at the hips, and his legs move into a position that stops repeated somersaults. See the fourth picture-when his arms continue in their rotation, they're going to hit his legs and stop. I don't believe this is a flaw-just the way he's engineered. He measures about 5.25 inches from the top of his head to his toes. The pictures capture his colors fairly well. His body. Arms and legs are pink with yellow ruffles and a blue placket. His hat is red. There's a tiny bit of paint loss on his nose- it is not dented, which is so often the case with celluloid dolls and figures. Old Jaeger 8 Days hand wound Automobile Clock Large Dash Clock 5" Running
Here we have a somewhat rare Jaeger 8 Days Automobile clock The mounting ring is with the clock. This is a good sized dash clock measuring about 5" in diameter not including the mounting ears or winding stem. We have no idea as to the make or year of car the clock belongs in. I would imagine something from the 1920s or 30s. The back is a bit rusty; otherwise the clock looks excellent. The face. Glass and brightwork are very nice. Some paint has chipped off the hands. The clock sets, winds and runs just fine. I wound it 3 days ago and it is still running on my desk. I forgot to take a picture of the movement which is in beautiful bright condition with no rust or damage. The clock fits tightly into the mounting ring, but there is nothing actually holding it in the mounting. There was probably a large retaining ring of some sort originally. ... moreAt some point in the past, someone attempted to add 3 spots of solder to the outer back to give some support in place of the missing retaining ring. This accomplished nothing. It did no real damage, but the 3 blobs of solder are visible when looking at the back. The clock presses tightly into the mounting ring, but some type of retainer should be fitted if you are going to mount the clock in a car as bumps and vibrations might cause the clock to separate from the mounting.
