Rare set of 1986 factory original pickups from a Fender American Series Stratocaster that uses the old Fullerton wire for the white leads, and newer Corona colored wire for the ground. This is quite a unique find. These are the handwritten diaries. ID tags, wound badge, paperwork and photo of L/Cpl James Petrie Reid, Scots Guards Machine Gun Regiment who served during WW1. He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry after the battle of Loos in 1915 and lost his left leg at the battle of Cambrai in November 1917. The first diary begins with his full details and home address: Pte James Petrie Reid, 10532, Right flank coy, 1st Bn Scots Guards, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, BEF. He gives his home address as Katarine Street, Zoar, Forfar, Scotland. He is later transferred to the Guards Machine Gun Regiment, service number changes to 943) This lot contains the following: two handwritten diaries. One of the few awards where the recipient actually shed blood on the batthlefield. The obverse of the medal displays the head of Emperor Karl his name appears as‘CAROLVS’ The reverse displays the words‘LAESO/MILITI’ to the military wounded) and the year as Latin numerals‘MCMXVIII’ or 1918, the year of its introduction. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a working French-made Beaulieu 16mm movie film camera with a spring-wound/clockwork motor. This unusual model. Sometimes referred to as the"Reflex Control" model, was produced for a short period of time in the early 60s. The Beaulieu company is better known for their battery-powered R-16 cameras with a similar body design, yet this model has some significant differences. The most notable departure from the electric R-16 is the spring motor, which will run for about 20 seconds at 24 fps on a full wind. This model also has the ability to do time-exposures(bulb exposures) with use of a cable-release(not included) in the P-socket next to the run button. Single-frame exposures for stop-motion can also be accomplished with a cable release in a separate port on the winder-side of the body. There is ... morealso a small, secondary winding crank below the main winding crank for rewinding the film inside the camera to create multiple exposures and other special effects. It shares many features with the electric R-16 model, including the mirrored guillotine-style shutter that allows for bright reflex viewing during shooting. Because of this, the image does flicker when the camera is running. Filming speeds range from 8-64 fps. There is a rotating lens turret to accommodate three c-mount lenses, plus a footage and frame counter. The loading technique and film chamber interior are basically the same as the R-16. The body is made of a sturdy metal and is coated in green crinkle paint with attractive chrome and leather accents. The body is lighter in weight and feel to a Bolex 16mm spring-wound. There are 2 ports that I'm not sure about, but they look like they could be used to connect an external motor. CONDITION: While running. The spring sounds strong and even with no unpleasant sounds that would indicate that it is faulty or near the end of it's life. With it came a threaded-steer Kestrel fork(back when Kestrel was cutting-edge good stuff) Well, progress happened, and everybody went to a threadless system. And being a bike shop mechanic, I had to have the latest and greatest. Back to Landshark my 853 Road Shark went, and when it came back, it had the most beautifully painted Reynolds Ouzo fork fitted. Well. Fast forward about 15 years, and the Landshark and the Ouzo fork were still being used. And seeing that I'm a recovering bike shop mechanic, I felt the need to update the Landshark. Sure the bike had Campagnolo Record 8-speed, then Record 9-speed, then Record 10-speed- so common sense dictates that the next logical upgrade would be. you got it the fork. But what can replace a Reynolds Ouzo? They haven't made'em in about 10 years. And the only thing available are those god-ugly Ritchey Logic Pro forks, so the next best thing was done, and that was custom order a Wound Up fork. Early Hand Wound Fire House, Factory, School House Bell Alarm - Heavy & Loud!
Up for auction is a really cool old hand wind bell or alarm. I'm not sure where it was used. But it is VERY LOUD! There is a winding stem on the bottom(like you would wind an alarm clock) on the bottom that is hard to turn, but it does turn. You then release the knob on the top of the bell to sound the alarm. I think the bell was wound tightly and hung on the wall as there is a place to hang it on the back. The front release was turned in the event of a fire or a need to send the alarm. The bottom has been repainted and may cover up the maker's mark, as I can't find any indication of who made this bell. It weighs in at 7 and 1/2 pounds before packing and is very heavy. There are a few areas of paint loss to the repainted base and the chrome top or bell is original and in very good condition with a few areas of minor wear. I've heard some black bobbins popping up on early 70's models but that's a whole nother story. Pickup still has original cloth leads but they have been cut to about 3 1/2" The flat pole pieces generally would indicate original install in a Duo-Sonic, Mustang or similar guitar.
