It still has some greenish-blue lead for marking the distances needed. Size: 3" high by 2" across. And face on each side measures 1 3/16" in diameter. It converts Inches to Miles. I am not even close to an expert or collector of vintage compasses like this so I will do my best to describe it's condition via text& photos. The"wheel" at the bottom does move in conjunction with the needle to measure the conversion of inches to miles. Unusual Vintage Map Measure wrist mounted I'm not an expert on vintage map measurers but this one strikes me as being somewhat unusual in that it's worn on the wrist. The main housing is in metal with a chromed finish and has wristwatch type lugs to take the 16mm nubuck leather strap that looks to be original. The strap itself is quite long; 11" from end to end excluding the buckle suggesting it may have been worn over clothing rather than simply on the wrist. The instrument dial is marked MILES and W. GERMANY and has 4 colour coded scales marked at 1/2 mile increments ... moreup to 24. The instrument head measures 40mm in diameter excluding the lugs.
