I have repaired countless Lionel 6b meters. Half the people say they die unexpectedly. The other half say the meter was DOA upon installing batteries after years of sitting. You cover shipping to me, I cover return shipping! This is what you can expect from this service: replacing all diodes replacing all electrolytic capacitors replacing all power supply capacitors replacing all transistors re-soldering all solder joints cleaning all switch contacts testing transformer testing voltage regulator tube testing all GM tubes adjusting the meter gauge needle adjusting the high voltage to 940vdc(+/ testing against beta and gamma check sources calibrating gauge to known check source return shipping tracked and insured If you need an additional part such as a GM tube. Transformer, yoke, voltage regulator or meter gauge, you can supply this to me or I can find one for you. Those items are hard to find so this can take some time. Sometimes I have these parts in stock. Best bet is to buy a parts unit(cdv-700) from ebay and scuttle needed parts. Word of advice? Try not to send me a meter that had batteries left in it for years expecting to get it working. Sometimes I can fire them up and they are good. But many times the acid chews up many things such as the transformer and meter gauge windings. Unlike the earier 715 model this has a sealed ion chamber and a 25 foot cable that can be attached. This allows for monitoring outside a shelter while staying safer inside. The units are government surplus. They ship with the original shoulder strap but do not have the box or manual. The case may have a nick or scratch or two. But overall they are nice clean units. Victoreen and Lionel 700s just that they use their own circuit design and are made in 1959-60. They use the same electrical circuit and board as the Anton Model 6 but use a smaller case(around 20% smaller) In my opinion the smaller size makes them a bit more desirable for backpacks or small cases. I have been trying to figure out how to offer a low cost meter and just can't seem to find one.
